This provision is good
The childminder is well qualified. She completes detailed observations and assessments to help her understand children's development and monitor their progress. The childminder provides a good range of stimulating activities across all areas of learning. She provides a good level of challenge and children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder keeps parents very well informed about the progress their children make. She is flexible in her approach and adapts how she works with parents, ensuring they can easily contribute towards their children's learning. The childminder meets the children's individual care and emotional needs well. Children are confident and enjoy close relationships with the childminder.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always provide a rich range of sensory experiences for younger children to explore and investigate. The childminder makes good use of monitoring systems to evaluate her service, but has not yet pinpointed precisely how improvements can be made in teaching to raise it to an even higher level.

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation and had discussions with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation and evidence of suitability checks. The inspector took into account the views of parents through the written feedback provided to the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is well organised. She provides parents with detailed written information about the service she offers and the policies and procedures. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Robust risk assessments ensure children are kept safe indoors and when outdoors. The childminder has a good knowledge of child protection issues and the procedure to follow if she is concerned about a child. The childminder shows a clear commitment to improving her professional development. Since registration she has successfully completed a level 3 childcare qualification and raised her knowledge and skills. The childminder has made good use of an external quality improvement provider to help her evaluate her service. This has resulted in a clear action plan in place to help her build on the care of children and the service provided.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder plans a broad range of experiences and teaching is good. She uses children's interests and an exciting range of topics to provide good learning opportunities. For example, children learn about the changing seasons, wildlife, and about various religious festivals. The programme for understanding the world is particularly strong. The childminder provides plenty of opportunities for children to learn about their natural world as they plant and care for fruits and vegetables. In addition, they take regular visits to places of interest in their local and wider community. The childminder places a clear focus on increasing the children's vocabulary and ideas during her interactions with them.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is mindful of the individual children in her care and uses her time well to ensure all children receive her attention. Children are happy and the childminder is responsive, ensuring she meets the younger children's individual sleep and feeding routines. She ensures that the care of older children, who attend after school, complements their day at school. They have the time to relax, freely play and learn from the activities on offer. She uses effective strategies to help children learn about respecting each other. For example, children have helped create a, 'Thinking tree' and have added their own ideas of good and appropriate behaviour. Topics about those who help them and healthy eating are used well to teach children about how to keep safe and healthy.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress. They enjoy their time at the childminder's home and are happy. Younger children are keen to try new experiences and confidently explore their surroundings. Older children take pleasure in learning. They show a good interest in activities that promote their literacy and mathematical development, and they are well prepared for school.
