This provision is good
The childminder has a good knowledge of children's interests and present stage of development. She identifies specific next steps in learning to support all children in making good progress from their starting points. The childminder is caring, approachable and friendly. She builds positive relationships and secure attachments with children. This helps children to feel happy and content in her care and to develop strong self-esteem. The childminder regularly reflects on her practice to help identify her strengths and areas for development. She undertakes continuous professional development, in order to improve the care and learning opportunities she provides. The childminder has developed good partnerships with other professionals and settings that children attend. She exchanges relevant information so that children are provided with continuity in care and education.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector toured the areas of the home used for childminding. The inspector looked at a range of documentation, including evidence of the childminder's qualifications and Disclosure and Barring Service checks for the childminder. She looked at a selection of policies and procedures, including the safeguarding procedure and children's learning records. The inspector talked to the childminder and the children throughout the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The well-qualified childminder has many years of experience working with children. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has robust procedures and risk assessments in place to keep children safe. She is confident to record and report concerns about children's welfare, and understands her role to protect them from harm. The childminder monitors the progress children make. For example, she observes activities to evaluate the impact of these and uses tracking forms to consider where children need more support or challenge. This helps her to identify any gaps in children's learning and access further support if needed.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a child-centred environment where children are confident and easily access the wide range of clearly labelled resources. The childminder places high emphasis on teaching children to develop their language and communication skills. She models language clearly and introduces new vocabulary. Children sit with the childminder and listen to a story and song relating to farm animals. They then go and find the toy animals and compare them to those in the book. Children love to play with the tubes, they stack them, count them, and tell the childminder what colours they are. The childminder challenges the children well and shows them how to roll the cars through the tunnel. This contributes to children's mathematical skills and helps to develop their imagination. The childminder keeps parents informed about their progress, through daily feedback and regular written reports and assessments.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is calm and provides children with lots of praise. She is caring and helps build children's confidence by offering reassuring words of encouragement. Children visit playgroups and the library regularly. The childminder supports healthy lifestyles for children well. They are keen to play outside in the garden as well as enjoying visits to the local parks and woods. Children enjoy the childminder's warm interactions and invite her to play alongside them. They receive extensive praise and encouragement. This raises children's self-esteem and supports their willingness to persevere in activities. The childminder forms strong relationships with the parents and their children. When they first join her, the childminder gathers useful information about children's individual needs from parents, which helps children to settle.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good progress across all areas of learning considering their starting points. The childminder uses her childcare knowledge and experience to ensure children are well prepared for the next stage in their learning. Children develop confidence, independence and the social skills to help them make progress.
