This provision is good
This well-qualified childminder warmly welcomes children and their families into her friendly home. Parents state they like the home-from-home feel, which helps their children to settle well. Parents state the childminder is so much fun. She tunes into children's interests and motivates them to play, explore and enjoy their learning. Children make at least good progress in their learning and are well prepared for school, when the time comes. The childminder develops very strong partnerships with parents and other settings some children also attend. They all work closely together to assess the progress children make and to identify and swiftly close any gaps in children's learning. The childminder is particularly skilful at helping children develop their physical, personal, social and emotional skills. Children are confident, develop strong relationships and enjoy playing outdoors. The childminder is very experienced in providing good quality care and learning. She

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector evaluated activities with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation and evidence of the suitability of adults living and working on the premises. The inspector spoke to the children during the inspection and took account of the views of parents, provided by the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder keeps up to date with new legislation and attends training to develop her knowledge and skills. She places high priority on keeping children safe. The childminder knows what action to take if she is concerned about the welfare of children. She takes all necessary steps to minimise potential hazards in her home and garden. The views of parents and children are sought as part of the childminder's self-evaluation. Parents describe the childminder as 'brilliant'. They say she goes out of her way to meet the needs of the whole family. Children confidently demonstrate which toys they like to play with. Older children comment on how much they enjoy drawing pictures in sugar.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are encouraged to explore and to follow their own ideas and interests. They seek their favourite toys and are helped to safely move them from one play area to another. Young children show interest for posting letters into a postbox. They demonstrate their good understanding of how things work as they show the childminder how to place a letter into an envelope. The childminder engages very well with children and shares the fun of discovery. She constantly provides a narrative and makes suggestions to extend children's learning. All children enjoy being creative and using their imagination. Young children develop their physical skills as they place items in and out of a doctors box. They hear mathematical language as the childminder counts how many arms they have as they put on the doctors coat.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Parents describe the childminder as caring. They say she is very sensitive and responsive to children's individual needs, feelings and interests. Children are happy in her care and quickly become confident to engage with visitors to the setting. They are inquisitive, behave well and enjoy safely exploring the world around them. Lots of encouragement and praise help children to have a go and to enjoy success in their chosen tasks. They are continually increasing their independence and motivation to learn. Very young children make great progress in their physical development. They become confident to stand holding on and to push dolls in pushchairs. Young children follow familiar routines that help them to feel safe and to sleep soundly. Children learn about the similarities and differences between themselves and others. They explore photographs and play with resources, such as finger puppets that show different ethnicities.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children are making at least good progress in all areas of their learning. They develop their physical skills as they investigate toys using all of their senses. All children develop their literacy skills as they read their favourite books. They practise their early writing skills as they make marks in materials such as paint, sand and sugar.
