improve the outcomes for children in her care.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 The childminder does not provide consistent opportunities for parents to share ideas, to help her reflect on her practice and further improve the provision for children.  The childminder does not always focus precisely on how she monitors and tracks children's development to maintain or extend the good progress they are making.

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2

What the setting needs to do to improve further

p.2

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder attends relevant training to remain up to date with child protection procedures. Through the effective implementation of polices, the childminder helps ensure children are kept safe and secure. Parents comment very positively about the childminder's practice and how she supports their children's learning and development. The childminder is committed to improving outcomes for children. She has strong links with nurseries, schools and other early years professionals to help promote the quality of her care and learning.

p.3

The childminder makes good use of her experience and children's interests to support their learning well. She provides a broad range of stimulating resources and activities to encourage children's development and progress. The childminder interacts well with children and is skilled at supporting their play and extending their learning, when appropriate. She develops young children's communication and language skills well, for example, as the childminder talks to them or they sing songs. Children show good motivation in their learning and spend a long time engaged in activities. For example, they show good coordination during music time sessions and display enthusiasm when engaging in movement and dance.

The environment is safe and secure, which helps the childminder promote children's independence and enjoyment of learning.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children make good progress for their age. They develop new skills and are able to think for themselves. Children gain a good understanding of the wider world, for example, during trips to places, such as museums, art galleries and libraries. They develop positive social skills, for instance, as they regularly attend toddler groups and mix with different people. This helps prepare children effectively for the next stage in their learning.
