This provision is good
The quality of teaching is good. There is a strong focus on developing children's communication and language skills, as many children speak English as an additional language. Staff use a range of techniques, such as visual aids and speaking slowly and clearly at all times. This contributes towards the good progress that children make. The new manager has high expectations and shares her vision with the staff team. She has clear plans in place to raise the quality of provision even further and has made many positive changes since joining the nursery. Parents' views are valued and the nursery is flexible to meet the needs of all families. The majority of the staff are new to the nursery and they have very quickly developed good attachments with children. They know children well, which helps them to support their physical and emotional well-being. Children are happy, settled and enjoy their time

at the nursery. Staff celebrate children's achievements well and they consistently use specific praise. Children's photographs and their Wow moments are displayed on boards around the nursery. This contributes towards raising children's self-esteem and promoting their excellent behaviour.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Systems for analysing the progress made by different groups of children are still being developed. There are fewer opportunities for all children to learn about and use technology.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the nursery manager. The inspector held a meeting with the nursery manager and her line manager. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as a sample of policies and procedures and evidence of the suitability of staff working in the nursery. The inspector spoke to a small selection of parents during the inspection and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The manager implements systems for recruiting new staff and ensures that their ongoing suitability is checked. Staff are inducted thoroughly and are supported during supervision sessions to help them to understand their roles. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Staff are knowledgeable about child protection issues and are confident in reporting procedures. The qualified teacher trains staff to ensure that practice is consistent. Practice is observed to measure the impact of training that staff have completed on children's outcomes. Training opportunities are purposeful and based on the needs of children attending. For example, plans are in place to access a specific language training package.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
When children first start, staff gather information from parents about what their children already know and can do. Staff observe children and make accurate assessments, which enables them to identify children's next steps in learning, planning precisely for them from the very beginning. Toddlers engage in self-registration. They find their own place mats and pegs, which all have their names and photographs on. This contributes towards developing children's early literacy skills. Staff in the pre-school room engage children in group activities, where they paint on large sheets of paper on the floor. Children display high levels of self-motivation and confidence. They communicate excitedly as they paint pictures of dinosaurs. They then bring toy dinosaurs over to the area and use their imagination to extend the activity further. Staff skilfully introduce all areas of learning and ask purposeful questions. Toddlers delight in sensory play. They explore the textures of

baked beans as staff model descriptive language and encourage physical skills.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Partnerships with all parents are good. Staff have access to sentences in different languages. The qualified teacher translates for parents to ensure that essential information can be shared. Children are encouraged to develop self-care skills. Pre-school children help to serve lunch using tongs and large spoons and toddlers are encouraged to put their own coats on. Staff are knowledgeable about different cultures, allowing them to be respectful to all families. Children are given many opportunities to learn about differences and similarities between themselves and others. The nursery has a range of resources available, including dual-language books. Staff explore festivals with children throughout the year. Children's healthy lifestyles are well supported. They have many opportunities for physical exercise, as they play outdoors daily and access a range of equipment. They enjoy healthy meals and snacks and all children engage in good hygiene procedures.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children, including those who speak English as an additional language, disabled children and those with special educational needs, are making good progress in all areas of learning. Children are well prepared for their next stage in learning and are developing the skills and capabilities they will need for their move on to school. Detailed plans are in place for transitions to school, helping to support children emotionally.
