This provision is inadequate
The childminder is unaware of the action to take in the event of an allegation being made against herself or an adult living in her household. Children do not make good progress. The childminder has a poor knowledge and understanding of the learning and development requirements. She does not accurately observe or assess children's learning. The required progress check for children between the ages of two and three years is not carried out. Parents do not receive a written summary of children's progress during this time. The childminder does not make use of training opportunities or evaluate her practice. Information about children's progress is not regularly shared with other early years providers that they attend. The childminder does not encourage all parents to share information about their children's learning at home. The childminder does not monitor children's progress, in order to identify any gaps in
p.1
It has the following strengths
Children are at ease and have developed a positive relationship with the childminder, which fosters their emotional well-being. Children's good behaviour is supported appropriately. The childminder teaches children to share and take turns and reminds them to use good manners.

p.3
Inspection activities
The inspector completed observations of and discussed the outcome of a planned activity with the childminder. The inspector had a tour of the premises and observed the childminder and children in the downstairs rooms of the house. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at a selection of children's records and policies and checked evidence of the childminder's suitability. The inspector took account of the views of parents from written comments.
p.3
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate
The arrangements for safeguarding are not effective. The childminder does not know the action to take if an allegation is made against herself or another household member. This means that children's welfare is compromised. The childminder does not have an up-to- date knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Consequently, she is unable to help children to make good progress in their learning. The childminder does not reflect on her provision or identify areas for improvement. She does not make use of any professional development opportunities. She shares some information with new parents about her setting when children enrol. The childminder has not established effective ways to share regular information about children's development with all early years settings that children attend, in order to promote continuity of care and learning.
p.4
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is inadequate
The childminder has a poor knowledge of the learning and development requirements. She does not carry out observations or assessments of children's learning. She is unable to find out whether there are any gaps in their development, in order to plan precisely for their next steps in learning. Furthermore, the childminder does not complete the required progress check for children between the ages of two and three years. She does not provide parents with a written summary of their child's development in the prime areas of learning. The childminder has a gentle manner and interacts appropriately with children. For example, she sings songs, points and counts objects in a book. The childminder talks to parents about their child's care routines and the activities they take part in. However, the childminder does not consistently encourage parents to contribute what they know about their child's learning at home.
p.4
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
Weaknesses in safeguarding have a negative impact on children's welfare. The childminder provides a suitable environment and develops appropriate relationships with children. She gathers information about children's general likes, dislikes and care routines from parents during settling-in periods. This supports her in helping children to feel safe and secure in her care. Children have free access to a range of toys and resources that helps them develop sufficient independence in their learning. Children's health is promoted through a healthy diet and daily fresh air from regular walks and outings to local parks. Babies and young children develop self-care skills as they feed themselves. Children gain knowledge and understanding of diversity through a range of activities, discussions and resources.
p.4
Outcomes for children are inadequate
Children do not make good enough progress. The childminder does not have the knowledge to support children to make progress typical for their age in all areas of their development. Overall, this means that children are not well prepared with the key skills needed for the next stage in their learning, including the move on to school.
