This provision is good
Children make good progress. The childminder knows the children well. She ensures activities challenge children successfully, building on what they already know and can do. Children's personal, social and emotional development is good. They are happy, settled and develop confidence in the childminder's care. The partnership with parents is good. Parents speak positively about the care and learning opportunities provided for their child. They welcome the united approach, providing consistency between home and the childminder's care. The childminder is fully aware of her role in protecting children from abuse and neglect. She assesses and minimises risks successfully within the home and garden and when on outings. Records, policies and procedures required for safe and efficient management of the provision are well maintained and implemented effectively. The childminder actively seeks the views of parents about the service she provides. She

reviews her own practice and is committed to her own ongoing professional development.

It is not yet outstanding because:
Information gathered from parents when children start does not consistently include parents' contributions about what their children can already do. Younger children do not always get enough opportunity to explore different natural materials.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector observed an activity and discussed teaching methods with the provider. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation and evidence of the suitability of adults within the home. The inspector took account of the written views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder successfully implements the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She strives to continually develop her own knowledge and skills, ensuring good quality care and education for children. The childminder actively seeks the views of the parents about her provision. All comments are evaluated and clear information is provided for parents regarding any changes that are made. Parents' written comments about the service they and their children receive are positive. They are delighted that their children are making good progress and always look forward to attending. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder keeps her child protection knowledge up to date.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes, assesses and plans for the individual learning needs of the children. Information is gained from parents about their child's care needs at the start of their placement. However, it does not include information about their development and what they can already do. The childminder supports children's communication and language skills well. She listens intently to what they are communicating to her and uses lots of repetition for younger children as they are developing their use of language. She responds to their babbling by asking questions and reinforcing the words they are starting to form. Children use scales, spoons and different pots and pans as they re-enact familiar activities and pretend to make a drink for the childminder. Children build their small- muscle skills well. They enjoy scooping small fluffy balls into bowls and jugs, tipping them out and starting again. Children spend time in the local community. They enjoy shopping

for the foods they need for their cooking activities and meet with other children at local groups.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a warm, relaxed environment. Time is spent getting to know each child through a gradual settling-in process. The childminder builds an awareness of their individual routines and care needs which are incorporated into the day. Children's good health is promoted well. The childminder provides a wide variety of healthy meals and snacks throughout the day. Fresh drinking water is freely available. Children have lots of opportunity to be physically active and enjoy spending time in the garden. The childminder supports children's confidence and self-esteem, praising their good behaviour and celebrating their achievements. She supports younger children well as they learn to share and take turns with the toys.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
The childminder supports children effectively so that they make good progress in readiness for the move on to nursery or school. Communication with parents is good. Daily discussion keeps them up to date with their child's development. Children's social and emotional well-being are supported well and interaction between the childminder and children is good.
