This provision is outstanding

 The owner/manager makes sure that all staff are exceptionally vigilant of children's safety. All staff participate regularly in a wide range of training to keep their skills and knowledge up to date and to help sustain the extremely high standards of this club.  Highly experienced staff make full use their qualifications and understanding of how children learn to plan exceptionally enjoyable out of school activities. These successfully boost the children's learning and complement what they learn in school.  Children settle in swiftly and form exceptionally strong bonds with the staff and with other children. They respect each other, are kind and are mindful of others' needs. Children behave extremely well.  Children participate in exciting activities with great interest and develop their skills extremely well. Staff take account of children's ideas for activities and these strongly influence the adults' daily planning.

Inspection activities

 The inspector held conversations with the manager, staff, children and parents during the inspection.  The inspector sampled documentation, including the club's policies, procedures and children's registration forms, and discussed the owner/manager's understanding of the requirements.  The inspector checked evidence of staff suitability to work with children, including their qualifications.  The inspector viewed the premises and resources and observed children's activities.  The inspector carried out a joint observation with the owner/manager.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The owner/manager implements comprehensive recruitment and induction procedures. All staff have an excellent knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues. Safeguarding is effective. The owner/manager supports her staff extremely well through regular staff meetings, and focuses strongly on staff professional development, which helps to maintain the extremely high quality service. For example, staff have half-termly targets and are graded on how well these are achieved; they are encouraged to achieve further qualifications, including to degree level. This all helps to raise the staff team's skills in working with children. Evaluation methods include the views of staff, parents and children to identify the club's strengths and plan for future improvements.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Staff plan exciting activities for the children. They monitor the children's enjoyment of these to make sure that what is provided remains relevant to the children's changing interests at home and at school. The extremely effective partnerships that club staff have with children's parents, and with school staff, help them to meet the children's individual learning needs successfully. For example, children have opportunities to create their own books in response to 'World Book Day', reflecting school activities. Staff organise and manage activities so that children benefit fully from them. For example, children know how long they have to finish their creations, which helps them to achieve their aims and have a sense of fulfilment, which boosts their self-esteem. Staff provide children with rich opportunities to be creative. For example, children delight in decorating ceramic cups for their mothers' special day.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Staff provide children with a very welcoming environment. Children are clearly extremely eager to attend the club, to greet their friends and to find out what choice of activities is available. Staff value children's ideas and praise their achievements and efforts, which raises children's confidence, for instance, in voicing suggestions. Staff have the highest expectations of all children. Children learn to play physical team games, for example. They follow the game rules, while enthusiastically cheering on their teammates, such as during an obstacle spy game. Children follow the club's general rules, which staff implement consistently. Children cooperate fully to help with routines, such as fruit time. However, occasionally such routines take too long and children become restless.
