This provision is good
The childminder and her assistants reflect well on the quality of the provision. This helps them to identify and target areas for improvement that benefit children, such as focusing the planning more on meeting individual learning needs. The childminder and her assistants involve themselves fully in children's play to promote their learning. Children enjoy their involvement in activities, such as singing a range of familiar action songs and rhymes. Children of all abilities behave well and gain good self-esteem. They are familiar with routines and take an active part in helping, such as tidying up their toys. The childminder supports children to develop their communication skills well. For example, she speaks clearly, repeats words and uses them in simple sentences to help children understand what they mean. This helps all children to make good progress from their starting points.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Children do not have many opportunities to use technology to support their learning. The childminder misses some opportunities for children to develop their literacy skills and practise their early writing as they play.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children engaged in activities and the interactions of the childminder and her assistant with them. The inspector spoke with the children, childminder and assistants at convenient times during the inspection. The inspector sampled various documents, including children's learning records, the childminder's self-evaluation, risk assessments and relevant policies and procedures. The inspector took into account the written views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder fully understands the requirements and works successfully with her assistants to meet these. The childminder ensures that her assistants have a secure understanding of their responsibilities and together they promote children's learning and welfare well. The childminder shares her procedures with parents to help them understand her working practices. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistants complete regular child protection training to ensure they are confident in following procedures to protect children from harm. The childminder uses her knowledge well to support her assistants and promote positive learning opportunities for children. She regularly shares good practice ideas with other childminders to further support her own learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder completes observations and assessments to support her to develop children's next steps in learning successfully. She knows the children well and plans activities to promote their learning and development. For example, all children thoroughly enjoyed playing a game that the childminder had planned specifically to help younger children to learn about sharing and taking turns. The childminder helps children to develop mathematical understanding well through activities they enjoy. For example, during the inspection children counted and identified some colours and numbers as they played an exciting game. Parents are fully included in their children's learning and are fully informed about the progress they make. They comment positively on the care their children receive and the outings into the local community they regularly experience.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a homely, caring environment. Children are happy and confident. They have good relationships with the childminder and her assistants, and know they can approach them for a cuddle if they become upset. The childminder praises children's achievements and promotes their self-esteem. Children have good opportunities to develop their social skills to help with moving on to pre-school and school. For example, when visiting local pre-school groups, they learn to mix and make friends with other children. The childminder teaches children about healthy lifestyles. For instance, they enjoy daily outings and opportunities to play in the fresh air, as well as a variety of healthy foods to try.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children receive the help they need to make good progress and become confident in their abilities. They remain engaged with activities for good lengths of time and make choices in play. Children develop key skills to prepare them well for future learning.
