p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 The childminder does not always give children time to think and share their ideas, to help them further develop their play interests.  The childminder does not consistently use self-evaluation to fully identify further ways to enhance the quality of the good practice she has developed.

For example, she spends time at their level engaging in their play and encourages them to share their ideas and to express themselves. While children explore play dough, the childminder encourages them to think about numbers and shapes. She monitors children's progress well. She observes children at the beginning of their placement to identify their starting points and she uses this information to plan to move children on in their learning from the start. The childminder communicates daily with parents about what their children are learning. She encourages parents to share what they know about their children from the start, to promote consistency of care and learning.

p.3
