Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an extremely secure understanding of how to keep children safe, including internet safety and thorough risk assessment. She provides parents with comprehensive information about safeguarding so they are fully aware of her responsibilities. The childminder is extremely dedicated and strives to make ongoing improvements to benefit children. For example, she has started a networking group to enable local childminders to share good practice, skills and knowledge, to raise standards for all children. She provides pictorial evaluation sheets to enable her to seek and value the views of even the very youngest children. The childminder continuously seeks opportunities to extend her knowledge through training, professional development and research, using the skills she learns to motivate and inspire children's learning.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder obtains a significant amount of information from parents to enable her to meet the diverse range of children's needs extremely well. She plans and provides an innovative range of activities and resources to promote all aspects of children's learning. For example, exciting trips to the woods or the local garden centre help children develop their understanding of nature and the environment. The childminder has made an ingenious 'discovery board' where children develop their physical and problem-solving skills, for example, as they explore letterboxes, door handles and chains. The childminder uses her high-quality observations to accurately assess children's excellent progress. This enables her to swiftly identify and tackle any emerging gaps in learning.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Children are extremely motivated with high levels of confidence and self-esteem. They develop their independence extremely well overall, although at times, the youngest children cannot clearly identify all resources to extend their choices. The childminder successfully promotes a culture of mutual respect. Children share, take turns and cooperate, demonstrating exemplary behaviour. The childminder extends this respect for others even further. For example, children visited elderly members of the community at Christmas to deliver gifts and cards. The childminder has a unique bond with the children she cares for, helping them to feel emotionally secure.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children make excellent progress in this outstanding provision. They flourish and become independent and confident learners from an early age. Children know the childminder values their ideas, and this contributes to their very good levels of self-esteem and strong sense of belonging. All children develop the skills and confidence they need for the next stage of their learning and the move to school.
