p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

The childminder is highly involved in her role and demonstrates this through her desire to provide the best possible care and education for all children. She is enthusiastic about working with parents, schools, settings and other professionals to achieve this. Furthermore, she continually extends her own knowledge, skills and understanding. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is fully aware of her responsibilities for children's welfare and recognises the signs and symptoms of abuse. She knows the procedures to follow if she has concerns about a child's welfare or development. The childminder has an extensive range of robust policies and procedures in place and implements these highly effectively. The environment is kept safe and secure, all areas are risk assessed and children are supervised closely. The childminder uses clear explanations to help children understand dangers and keep themselves free from harm.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

Children are inquisitive, active and motivated learners. They enjoy accessing the range of high-quality resources which are selected to reflect their stages of development and interests. This helps children to focus and become engaged in activities for long periods of time. The childminder is skilled at providing lots of opportunities for children to develop and extend their vocabulary and comprehension. For example, she combines single words and short sentences during activities, and uses rich and varied language to help children become expressive and confident communicators. The childminder carries out regular and precise observations and assessments of children to identify any gaps in learning, additional needs and next steps for progression. The childminder uses this information successfully to help provide challenging activities that support children's next steps in learning.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Children's behaviour is exemplary. The childminder is an excellent role model, who values and celebrates children's uniqueness and individuality. She is patient, calm, sensitive and skilfully helps children to recognise their feelings and be considerate to their peers. Children are provided with a range of opportunities to learn how to develop healthy lifestyles. The childminder offers a variety of home-cooked, nutritious meals and supports children to learn about the importance of a healthy diet. She teaches them about effective hygiene routines and they are encouraged to develop independence. Children thoroughly enjoy connecting with nature and experiencing all weathers, as they play outside and go on outings. This helps to effectively support children's physical well-being.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

All children make at least good progress in their learning and development from their starting points. They are gaining the skills needed to prepare them for the next stage in their learning, including school.
