p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Children are eager to attend and enjoy a wide range of exciting and challenging activities. They make rapid progress in their learning and development. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is fully aware of the procedure to follow if she is concerned about a child's welfare. She is totally committed to improvement and has detailed plans to develop her provision further. For example, she recognises the potential to enhance activities for those who choose to spend time outside.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder accurately monitors children's progress and sensitively plans activities that reflect their very individual needs. She engages boys and girls equally well, ensuring that they make excellent progress. The childminder places a very strong emphasis on teaching language, communication and mathematical skills in a fun way. For example, she encourages children to count to 10 out loud as they thoroughly wash their hands. Children love to share books with the childminder and become totally involved and absorbed in all aspects of the story. The childminder challenges children's thinking, for example, through skilful questioning about their play. She regularly plans activities that require children to solve problems and try new things. For example, she provides a wide range of unusual, tactile and exciting resources to use in their painting. This challenges them to think carefully about how they could use these in their picture.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder provides excellent activities to help children develop very positive relationships. She models positive behaviour and encourages children to work together to overcome obstacles and help each other. This was evident in a task involving identifying colours. Children helped each other to succeed by pointing to particular objects. Relationships between the children and the childminder are excellent. The childminder ensures that children fully understand their daily routines and know where resources are. This encourages their independence and provides opportunities for them to make choices. Children are safe and secure. The childminder provides superb opportunities for them to be physically active and learn about keeping healthy.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children make outstanding progress and are fully prepared for the next stage of their education. They develop confidence and self-esteem as they explore, experiment and discover through exciting tasks and activities. All children are highly motivated to learn. They have tremendous fun playing with each other, for example as they chase bubbles. They take turns, offer opinions and praise each other for their successes. All children are exceptionally kind and tolerant.
