This provision is good
The childminder evaluates her practice. She always seeks the views of the parents, the children and other professionals to improve her practice further. The childminder keeps up to date with any changes in legislation and researches information regarding children's learning and development. She uses what she learns to inform her practice and benefit children. The childminder knows children well. She considers each child as unique and has high expectations of what each child can achieve. The childminder supports children's individual needs. All children make good progress in their learning. The childminder forms good working relationships with parents. They share information regarding children's care needs and progress, and plan for children's learning and development together. The childminder encourages children to manage their personal hygiene needs well. Children know how to keep themselves healthy and safe.

Inspection activities
The inspector toured the areas of the premises that children use. The inspector observed the childminder's interactions with children. The inspector spoke to parents to consider their views about the setting. The inspector spoke to the childminder to review her understanding of the requirements of Early Years Foundation Stage. The inspector sampled documentation, including the childminder's policies and procedures, and other records.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder manages her setting well and identifies her strengths and further areas for improvement. For example, she introduced questionnaires to gather parents' views and shares more detailed assessments of children's progress with parents. The childminder knows how to act in emergency. Safeguarding is effective. She ensures that every child in her care is safe. The childminder has robust procedures to protect children. She knows how to recognise and manage any concerns regarding children's welfare.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a stimulating learning environment for all children. She plans activities to help children develop their communication, personal, social and emotional skills throughout the day. The childminder also focuses on developing children's early literacy and mathematical skills to ensure that children are ready for school. For example, when a child chose to play with an alphabet puzzle, the childminder encouraged the child to recognise the letter names, count the number of letters in the alphabet and place the puzzle pieces in the correct place. The childminder constantly observes children and changes activities to provide them with more challenge. She carries out thorough assessments of children's achievements and plans effectively to help them progress.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder has flexible settling-in procedures. She promotes children's emotional well-being sensitively. Children form secure attachments with the childminder. She works closely with parents and other professionals, and discusses consistent ways to support children that require additional help. The childminder constantly models positive behaviour. Children understand what is expected and behave well. The childminder promotes children's physical development. For example, children use scooters, visit local parks, use apparatus in playgrounds and walk to playgroups. The childminder teaches children how to manage simple tasks. For example, when children finish their lunch they take their plate into the kitchen independently. The childminder talks to children about different cultures in the world and they often cook authentic dishes together.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop a good range of skills that prepare them for their next stage in learning and eventually the move to school. They learn to manage their personal needs and understand why it is important to keep themselves healthy and safe. They tolerate each other's differences and play happily together. Children develop mathematical skills; for example, they count confidently and have an awareness of shape and space. Young children match colours and older children draw and name shapes.
