Staff take account of their different abilities, interests and ways of learning to make sure activities meet children's needs. Children demonstrate good levels of confidence. Staff are friendly, caring and approachable and they know children well. They have a good rapport with children and support their emotional well-being successfully. Partnerships with parents are good. Staff share information with parents about the activities and routines that their children take part in. Parents are positive about the care their children receive. Strong links with the host school help staff to effectively share information about children's care and welfare. Children's good health and physical development are promoted effectively. They have regular opportunities to be active when they use the school facilities, such as the hall
p.1

Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the areas used by the out-of-school club. She observed the quality of staff's interactions during activities. The inspector jointly observed and discussed children's activities with a manager. The inspector held a meeting with the managers. She spoke to staff and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector discussed the self-evaluation with the managers and looked at relevant documentation, including the evidence of the suitability and training of all staff. The inspector spoke to the headteacher of the school and a small selection of parents during the inspection and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The manager consistently ensures that all staff are kept informed about changes in legislation. This helps them to promote children's welfare. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Safeguarding and child protection policies are implemented well and practices are regularly reviewed. All staff have a good understanding of their responsibilities to protect children from harm. Staff ensure that physical risks in the setting are assessed and potential hazards minimised. All staff have attended first-aid training. Leaders and managers are passionate about continuously improving the quality of the provision. Plans are in place to support their vision for further development. The staff team is encouraged to continue with their professional development and to use the skills gained to enhance experiences for children. Parents spoken to on the day comment that they are happy with the service provided and their children enjoy attending the club.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children enjoy taking part in craft activities that are planned to reflect their own ideas. Staff interact well with the children. They support children's learning effectively and encourage the use of various materials and media. For example, children experiment imaginatively when they make cards. Children continue to develop good skills, such as writing, supporting their future learning. Children are praised for their achievements, motivating them to persevere and try harder. Children play cooperatively and learn to take turns while playing with hoops and skipping ropes outside. Older children help younger children to understand the rules as they play.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are happy and enjoy attending the club. They settle well and follow a familiar routine. The key-person system works well. This helps staff build secure relationships with parents and children in the club. Children actively contribute to the planning of activities and this helps them to feel valued and to develop a strong sense of belonging. Children's independence skills are promoted well. They know about good hygiene practices, such as regular handwashing. Children are self-assured and help themselves to the snack and drinks that are on offer. Children's confidence and self-esteem are promoted through the praise and encouragement they receive. Staff encourage children to be respectful of others and to recognise their own unique qualities. Children are aware of the behavioural expectations. They learn to develop an awareness of health and safety through the daily routines, discussions and activities.
