p.1
This provision requires improvement. It is not yet good because:
The committee are unaware of the need to notify Ofsted of any serious incidents. This is a requirement of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. Children are not provided with opportunities to contribute to the daily planning and evaluation of activities to ensure that their individual needs and interests can be met. Staff do not ensure that the main playroom is organised well and free from clutter so that it does not prevent a safety hazard to children.
p.1

Children enjoy their time at the setting, they show that they are familiar with the routines and are provided with good support from staff during their chosen activities. As a result they develop a sense of belonging. Effective partnerships with parents have been formed. Parents are well informed about all aspects of the club and report that their children enjoy attending. Staff encourage children to be independent during daily routines and to help each other.

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke with children, parents, staff and committee members at convenient times during the inspection. The inspector observed staffs interactions with children as they played indoors. The inspector viewed a range of documentation such as; staff recruitment files, policies, procedures and risk assessments. The inspector spoke with the committee, the manager and staff about their knowledge of safeguarding and the arrangements they have in place to ensure that children are protected.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management requires improvement
The committee are unaware of their responsibility to notify Ofsted of serious incidents to ensure that they remain suitable. Since the last inspection the committee have worked hard to bring about improvement to benefit the children. The committee and staff are aware of their responsibility to report any child protection issues and have knowledge of the procedures to follow should there be an allegation against a member of staff. Concerns raised by parents are reviewed by the committee and appropriate action taken. Staff are provided with regular updates in writing of any changes to policies and procedures to ensure that children remain safeguarded. Appropriate vetting procedures are followed to ensure staffs individual suitability and training needs are identified so that children are cared for by suitable and knowledgeable staff.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment requires improvement
Children are provided with opportunities to relax and have fun at the club. One member of staff also works within the school. This means that they are able to provide the staff team with current information about the children attending enabling the staff to provide any additional support as required. Children are generally content with the activities offered and receive positive interactions from the staff who join in with their play. They enjoy playing board games, taking part in team games, for example; table-top football or pool and using their imagination during role play activities. However children are not provided with opportunities to contribute towards the planning and evaluation of activities on a regular basis. This would enable staff to have a greater understanding of children's preferences, plan accordingly and provide children with a greater variety of activities and experiences.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare require improvement
The main playroom used by the children has become cluttered and staff do not ensure that resources are stored appropriately to prevent areas from becoming hazardous. The premises are kept secure whilst they are operating. The staff are mindful of the risks when other users are operating from the premises and make regular checks of the door to ensure children’s safety is not compromised. Staff compliment and support children’s care and learning well, they are good role models. They encourage children to listen to each other’s contributions during snack time and calmly reinforce good behaviour. Staff, where necessary, liaise with the teachers of children with challenging behaviour to agree consistent strategies for management of their behaviour.
