This provision is good
The well-qualified staff deliver a good standard of teaching. They regularly observe children during their play and use assessment well to plan appropriate next steps in their learning to help them progress. The thoughtful organisation of the outdoor environment and the excellent range of natural resources, both encourage children to explore and investigate. This helps them to gain independence in their learning and prepares them well for their future move to school. Staff show kindness, respect and value children's views and opinions. They are sensitive to children's needs and effectively support children's emotional well-being. Staff effectively manage children's behaviour, according to their age and stage of development. They encourage children to voice their own wishes and opinions, teaching them positive ways to solve disputes independently. Management implement a very good range of policies and procedures, helping to

It is not yet outstanding because:
On occasions, staff do not fully consider all children's interests when planning group time arrangements. Strategies to drive the quality of staff practice to a higher level are not yet fully effective. Children's good health is not always effectively promoted. Staff do not implement successful handwashing routines at all times.

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed all areas of the premises used by the children, including the outdoor environment. The inspector engaged in discussions with the staff and children throughout the inspection at appropriate times. The inspector carried out a joint observation with the manager. The inspector looked at children's records, planning documentation, evidence of the suitability of staff working in the provision and a range of other documentation, including policies and procedures. The inspector took account of the views of parents and carers spoken to on the day of inspection. The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities, both indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector held a meeting with the nursery owner and manager. She discussed the nursery's self-evaluation and how the views of parents and children are included to drive improvement.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The management team is enthusiastic and has a clear drive for continuous improvement. They regularly evaluate the provision and take the views of parents and children into account when identifying strengths and priorities for further improvement. The deployment of staff throughout the nursery ensures that ratios are met at all times and children are supervised effectively. Management complete regular supervisions to ensure that staff are supported and encouraged to further their professional development. Staff communicate well with parents from the outset and also work closely with other professionals. The nursery has recently introduced a system which enables parents to contribute to children's learning and further support their children's progress at home. This helps staff to support the individual needs of children effectively. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Staff have a good knowledge and understanding of their role

and responsibilities with regard to protecting children in their care from abuse and neglect.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Staff effectively help older children learn about phonics and mathematical concepts, such as shapes and size. They support children's early literacy skills well, as they encourage all children of all ages to make marks and join in with stories and songs. Staff provide props to further support children's interests and involvement in books. This helps to encourage all of the children to interact. Staff help toddler's communication skills by listening perceptively to them and asking questions to develop their vocabulary. During planned activities, staff encourage children to discuss what is taking place, contributing their own ideas and using their critical-thinking skills. Children's own work and photographs are displayed around the nursery. This helps to ensure they have a sense of belonging and feel self-assured. Accurate systems are in place to evaluate the progress of different cohorts of children. This contributes towards each child making good progress towards the
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The key-person system is well established and children form strong attachments with staff. They are confident, highly motivated and enjoy exploring their environment. Children are particularly motivated and enjoy their time in the spacious outdoor area. This helps to promote their physical skills. During mealtimes, staff talk to children about the benefits of eating healthy food. This contributes towards children gaining an understanding of a healthy lifestyle. Mealtimes are happy, social occasions, and staff make good use of these opportunities to help older children develop their independence skills. For example, children serve themselves their own food and pour their own drinks. Children are provided with constant praise and encouragement, which helps to enhance their self- esteem and effectively develop their personal, social and emotional skills.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good progress in all areas of learning. They are keen, motivated learners who communicate well and develop independence. Children enjoy learning and gain key skills in preparation for school.
