This provision is outstanding
The quality of teaching and staff's interaction with children is outstanding. Children experience exciting and varied activities that cover all areas of learning in depth. Children are challenged extremely well in their thinking and they thoroughly enjoy being at the pre-school. They are busy and engaged in the activities, which are planned around their individual interests. Staff have an excellent knowledge of how children learn through play. They use their observations to plan sharply focused next steps in learning. This helps children to reach their full potential, particularly in their language and communication skills. Staff evaluate children's progress in detail, in order to identify and address any gaps in learning quickly. There is excellent communication and sharing of information about children's needs and progress with parents. They are all very involved in children's learning and staff work

closely with parents. Children make rapid progress in their learning and development. Parents are guided exceptionally well in ways to support children's learning at home and at the pre-school. Children are very happy and secure in this homely and welcoming pre-school. Children's behaviour is excellent and they are kind to each other. Staff teach children to share and take turns as they play. Children enjoy choosing a range of fresh fruit at snack time. Staff sit with children and teach them the importance of healthy eating. The pre-school has initiated strong links with other local early years providers and the school with whom they share the site. Staff share ideas and best practice and work closely with other professionals to support children and their families extremely well. The enthusiastic managers and staff have a very clear plan of how to improve the high- quality provision even further.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with one of the pre-school managers. The inspector held a meeting with the pre-school managers. She looked at relevant documentation, such as the pre-school's self-evaluation and evidence of the suitability of staff working in the pre-school. The inspector spoke to a small selection of parents during the inspection and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Staff implement robust procedures to keep children safe. Meticulous documentation is maintained to record health and safety information. Children are protected extremely well. The managers carry out regular staff supervisions and appraisals. These are extremely thorough and well documented. Regular peer observations help staff to improve their practice. Sharply focused professional development targets are identified for all staff. This has a very positive impact on the high-quality teaching and the continuous improvement of children's learning experiences. Staff recognise the importance of maintaining continuous professional development. They have high expectations for children's and staff's achievements. The progress of individual children and of groups is monitored carefully to identify and close gaps in learning rapidly.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
All staff record very detailed observations of children when they notice something significant. They share information about each child's progress and next steps in learning so that these are built into the activities even when the child's key person is not present. There is excellent teamwork to support children's progress. Staff plan exciting activities that help children to identify sounds, letters and familiar words, including their names. Children collect items that begin with a given sound and older children are able to think of other words that begin with the same sound. Staff use the same ways to teach this as the local schools, which helps children to be exceptionally well prepared to continue their learning. Two- and three-year-old children really enjoy finding out which objects float or sink and why. They are challenged to see how many toy ducks they can fit in a boat and what happens when a stone is added. They count how many ducks there are and how

many when another one is added. Staff ask children to guess how many ducks they think will fit in the boat. Children love to dig and play on wheeled toys outside. They develop their physical skills extremely well through a wide range of resources and equipment.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children's well-being is given the highest priority and their health is very well protected. Staff make all learning great fun and children thoroughly enjoy their time at the pre- school. Children are calm and well behaved and staff are very skilled in behaviour management. They work exceptionally well with parents on consistency of care. Children are frequently praised by staff so that they gain confidence and good self- esteem. They love to show their paintings to all the staff and are very proud of their efforts. This helps them to feel valued as individuals. Children are very emotionally secure. Staff are very caring and comfort children if they are upset. Staff are highly successful in preparing children emotionally and developmentally for their moves to school.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
All children, including those who receive funded education, gain independence and excellent social skills. They learn early literacy and mathematical skills extremely well. Children are acquiring the key skills to help prepare them for their future learning, including school.
