This provision is good
The childminder listens to children and values their ideas. This helps to promote their self-esteem and confidence. The childminder provides a good range of activities that are planned according to children's individual interests and which cover all areas of learning. This helps children to gain a good range of skills to support their move on to school. The childminder makes good use of risk assessments to effectively identify potential hazards. She promptly addresses these to help keep children safe. Children are making good progress from their starting points. The childminder effectively monitors their progress and this helps her to identify gaps in their learning. She uses this knowledge to plan for each child's unique learning needs. The childminder has a strong commitment to improving her practice. She values parents' and children's views about what they feel is working well and what is not. She

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder is not always fully effective in helping parents extend their children's learning and development further at home. The childminder does not have a wide range of resources that help children learn about diversity and she does not make the most of all opportunities to build on children's awareness of the wider world.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and interactions between the childminder and children throughout the inspection. The inspector spoke with the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector viewed documentation, including children's records, policies and procedures. The inspector looked at the completed self-evaluation form.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of her role in protecting children and has developed her understanding of the procedures to follow should a concern arise. The childminder prioritises her ongoing professional development and keeps her knowledge up to date. For example, she attends regular training and works closely with other childminders to identify and share good practice. This helps her to maintain good standards and improve outcomes for children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is aware of children's starting points. At the start of the arrangement, she obtains information from parents about what their children already know and can do. The childminder's effective ongoing observations and assessments lead to planning for future learning that is based on a secure knowledge of each child. The childminder interacts well with children and skilfully joins in with their chosen play to help engage them further. Children are developing good coordination and pencil control skills. The childminder is effective at helping children to understand mathematical ideas through everyday experiences. For example, she counts and compares sizes of different animals with the children during role-play activities.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are confident and move around independently, choosing the toys they want to play with. The childminder acts as a good role model to the children and has a calm and positive manner. This helps children learn to be kind and respect each other. The childminder effectively promotes children's emotional well-being. Children settle well and develop strong relationships with each other. The childminder provides many opportunities for children to adopt healthy lifestyles. For example, they eat healthy foods and enjoy a variety of outdoor learning experiences. This helps to successfully promote their physical well-being.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are making good progress in relation to their starting points. The childminder promotes children's communication and language development well. She gives younger children time to speak and repeat words to support their emerging language. Children are developing skills to manage their own clothing. All these help children to develop key skills for their next stage of learning and in readiness for their move on to school.
