This provision is good
The childminder supplements her home provision very well with exciting outings and experiences, such as swimming, cafe visits, and woodland playgroups. Children are confident in new situations and gain a very good understanding of the natural world and local community. Children are very happy and settle well with the childminder. She is very caring and responsive to children's needs. She establishes warm and secure relationships with children. The childminder provides parents with information on their children's learning and guidance on how they can support learning at home. Parents are extremely complimentary about the care their children receive. The childminder regularly undertakes professional development opportunities to enrich her practice and positively impact children's learning. For example, she has enhanced children's role play activities as a result of training.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not organise her wide range of toys and resources as well as possible to provide children with even more choices and to consistently extend activities using their own ideas. The childminder's reflection on practice does not always accurately identify where improvements can be made, in order to raise her provision to the highest level.

She has a good understanding of the procedures to follow should she have a concern about the welfare of a child in her care. She ensures her home and resources are safe, and implements clear policies to successfully reduce any hazards and protect children from harm. Safeguarding is effective. Children are safe and happy. Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn. She uses information from observations and assessments to plan a wide range of activities. These support children's interest and next steps in learning. For example, children who were interested in pirates enjoyed building a model boat from junk materials and pretending to be pirates. She ensures children benefit from a good level of challenge. The childminder places a high priority on talking and listening to children. She teaches them new words and explains new ideas in simple ways that they understand. She uses effective strategies to support children's confidence in speaking.

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder has created a warm and welcoming environment. Children learn about healthy lifestyles. They receive plenty of fresh air and exercise, both in the garden and on outings. They learn good, healthy routines, such as washing their hands before meals to remove germs. The childminder promotes children's social skills well. Children mix with other children and adults at local play groups. The childminder is a good role model, helping children quickly learn to be kind to others, share and take turns. She is skilled at sensitively helping children manage changes in their lives. The childminder effectively supports children to develop their independence and self-care skills, appropriate to their age and stage of development.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children, including those who have only been attending for a short time, make good progress given their starting points. Some children make particularly good progress in communication and language as support for this area is strong. During the inspection, children learnt to hold one-handed tools, throw with accuracy and count. Children have a variety of opportunities to develop their mathematical and literacy skills. All children acquire the necessary skills for future learning.
