This provision is good
The knowledgeable childminder is well organised and professional. She plans, organises and provides a caring, stimulating play environment where the children make good progress. Good use is made of the available space and a broad variety of resources. Children have the freedom to develop their skills across all areas of learning. They also enjoy visiting activities in the local community as part of developing good social skills and their awareness of the world around them. Children develop a good awareness of healthy lifestyles through conversations, activities and good hygiene routines. Positive relationships develop with parents and professionals, to enable children to benefit from a high level of continuity in their care and learning. The childminder encourages children's communication and language skills particularly well. She models language well and extends young children's single words into short

Inspection activities
The inspector toured the premises and viewed resources with the childminder. The inspector observed the children and the childminder at play. The inspector examined the records and documents provided by the childminder. The inspector read comments from parents to inform the inspection process. The inspector read and discussed the self-evaluation process with the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder takes good care to ensure all aspects of safeguarding are promoted effectively. This includes the action to take if she has concerns for the welfare of a child. She continually develops her knowledge and her childcare and teaching skills. She demonstrates a good working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. The childminder monitors children's progress carefully, to enable her to identify and address any gaps in their learning. The childminder values the views of all who use her service to inform her self-evaluation. This assists her to continually develop her childminding service.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder carefully observes children's progress, and plans activities and experiences that extend their skills and knowledge. She actively encourages children to identify and explore the activities they enjoy. She willingly gets out resources she knows children like, or those they ask for, to follow their interests effectively. The children enjoy their play independently and with the childminder. The childminder encourages the children to be creative and join in with action songs. She promotes their coordination and balance as they use their large muscles and body movements to do the actions. Children benefit positively from a good range of play experiences that cover all areas of learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children behave well. The childminder is a positive role model. She is calm, caring and nurturing in her interactions with the children. Positive relationships develop and the children confidently enjoy the childminder's company and the environment she provides. The childminder is very responsive to children and meeting their individual needs. The children seek and respond to the childminder's attention with ease. They are confident in her care. She always praises children warmly for their achievements. Children learn about keeping safe in effective ways that are relevant to their ages and understanding. For example, they take part in fire drills as part of learning about staying safe in an emergency. The childminder works well with parents and shares advice regarding child development.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children clearly enjoy the many activities the childminder provides. They are developing their abilities to make choices and be social individuals. The children enjoy using small- world figures, exploring musical instruments and the sounds they make, and being creative with play dough. They gain confidence and a good range of skills, ready to enjoy the next stages in their learning.
