increase the already excellent opportunities for children to access and look at books independently, to strengthen their early literacy skills even further.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed a range of play activities and spoke to the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at children's learning records, assessment documents and a selection of policies and procedures. The inspector checked evidence of qualifications and suitability of the childminder. The inspector discussed the childminder's self-evaluation process. The inspector took account of the written views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
The highly driven childminder constantly evaluates the service she provides and regularly seeks the views of parents. She attends extensive training and shares knowledge with other childminders. This helps her to ensure that she delivers an excellent service. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an in-depth understanding of her role and responsibility to protect children in her care. She gives utmost priority to children's safety and is extremely clear about the procedures to follow if she has concerns about a child's welfare. The childminder maintains excellent communication with other early years settings children attend. These partnerships help to create a successful and consistent approach towards children's care and learning experiences.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The well-qualified childminder supports and extends all areas of children's learning and development extremely well. She uses her highly detailed assessments of children to identify the next steps in their development. She shares this information exceptionally well with parents, which aids their understanding of how to support their children's learning at home further. The childminder plans activities that help to highly stimulate children's natural curiosity, interest and fascination. Children thoroughly enjoy exploring books with the childminder. For example, children show very high levels of engagement as they listen to stories and use puppets to respond to the words they hear. However, the organisation of books does not always help to strengthen children's early literacy skills even further.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children settle in extremely well and show a very strong sense of belonging. They explore the environment freely and develop excellent independence skills. For example, they are very eager to carry out small tasks and help to keep the environment tidy. The childminder is an excellent role model and uses clear guidance and boundaries. This contributes towards children's growing understanding of expectations of behaviour. Children learn about the significance of healthy lifestyles from a young age. For example, the childminder makes highly effective use of young children's role play to discuss what they are feeding the dolls for breakfast and whether those foods are healthy.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children make rapid progress in their learning and development. They develop excellent skills, knowledge and attitudes in readiness for school. Children have excellent creative skills and recognition of colour. For example, the childminder talks to them about the colours of the play foods they use.
