The progress children and young people make is evident throughout the home. The introduction of the ‘my journey’ document is beginning to tell a story of children and young people’s achievements, new experiences and positive relationships with peers and staff. children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The registered manager has robust systems in place to ensure children and young people are safe. Staff follow the safeguarding procedure effectively and information is shared with the appropriate social care professionals. Risk assessments are proportionate, they highlight risks and strategies are in place to minimise them. There are a low number of physical interventions; all of which are low level guiding techniques. Staff records of behaviour management are clear, succinct and monitored effectively by the registered manager. Team meetings involve discussion about each child and young person and their needs. Staff reflect on the care they provide to children and young people. They learn from each other and develop care plans to improve the experiences that children and young people have in the home.

Information about this inspection

Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children and young people living in the children's home. Inspectors considered the quality of work and the difference adults make to the lives of children and young people. They read case files, watched how professional staff work with children, young people and each other and discussed the effectiveness of help and care given to children and young people. Wherever possible, they talked to children, young people and their families. In addition the inspectors have tried to understand what the children's home knows about how well it is performing, how well it is doing and what difference it is making for the children and young people who it is trying to help, protect and look after. This inspection focused on the effectiveness of the home and the progress and experiences of children and young people since the most recent full inspection.
