Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection issues and is confident to identify and report any safeguarding concerns if required. She supervises children closely and follows good procedures to protect them from harm. The childminder makes good use of relevant and regular training events and mentor support to extend her knowledge and skills further. She has high expectations of all children and uses skilful and effective teaching techniques to support their learning and development well. The childminder works positively with parents and other settings to promote complementary learning experiences for children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder establishes what children know, understand and can do before they attend. This helps her to plan activities based on their individual interests and abilities and offer good quality learning experiences. The childminder uses the good range of toys and resources well to engage children in enjoyable and purposeful learning experiences. For example, children develop number skills as they count how many wooden blocks they use to build a tall tower. The childminder helps them to extend their learning further, for example, by sorting and matching the blocks by size and colour. The childminder accurately tracks children's progress to identify and close any gaps in their learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Children learn to share, take turns, and cooperate successfully to maintain harmonious play. The childminder teaches children how to identify and manage everyday risk, such as trips and falls. Children develop an understanding of the importance of healthy lifestyles as they enjoy nutritious food, follow effective hygiene routines and engage in physical exercise each day. These key skills support children's future learning and prepare them well for their move to other settings.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are curious, inquisitive and keen to learn. They enjoy taking responsibility for tasks such as tidying away toys. Children increase their communication and literacy skills, for example, by drawing around their hands and feet and making patterns with different coloured crayons. They enthusiastically discuss, share and celebrate their pictures with one another. Children make good progress and are emotionally ready for school.
