Children develop exceptional self-belief and a 'can do' attitude. They have remarkable self-esteem and positivity in the very strong bonds with the childminder. The childminder supports children very well in their mathematical development to learn about different concepts and mathematical language. Children are very competent communicators. They have an exceptional grasp of language and communicate very effectively with other children and adults. The childminder monitors children's progress very effectively. He continually assesses their learning needs and plans highly challenging activities and experiences that extend their skills and prepare them very well for future learning. Inspection activities
The inspector observed children playing independently and during organised activities. The inspector spoke to children at appropriate times during the inspection, and considered parents' views by reading testimonials written for inspection purposes. The inspector sampled a range of documents, including children's records, and policies and procedures. The inspector held discussions with the childminder about the activities he organises and steps he would take if he had concerns about children's welfare.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
The childminder is highly motivated and strives to maintain the highest standards of care and learning, so that children continually achieve. He makes excellent use of training to assess and improve his skills and the service he offers. For example, he has fitted CCTV to add further protection to safeguard children and adults in his home. He works very closely with his co-childminder and assistant to share practice ideas and learning from training that increase his skills further, for example, in teaching children about other cultures and beliefs. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder ensures children's safety and well- being. He is very clear about child protection matters and procedures to follow if he has any concerns.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder meticulously plans experiences that continually challenge and build on children's interests and next steps. He seamlessly blends learning opportunities in children's play, encouraging them to examine and explore in more detail. For example, as children inspect the items they have collected on a recent trip to the beach, he asks probing questions to get them to think about size, shape and form as they investigate using all their senses. This supports children's learning very well, especially those with special educational needs, and strongly increases their language and vocabulary. There are fewer opportunities for children to learn more about technology. The childminder works very effectively with other professionals and parents to ensure he continually challenges and engages children in learning that extend their capabilities further.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children are extremely confident. The childminder makes them feel very secure through his excellent interactions and praise. Children respond very positively, say 'thank you' and show a very strong sense of pride in their achievements. The childminder provides excellent opportunities for children to learn about the world around them, and develop a greater sense of their place within it. For example, older children talk about their own family traditions, which help to stimulate interesting conversations between children about how they are all different yet similar. The childminder ensures children develop a deep understanding of how to be healthy.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
All children make significant progress from their starting points, including those with special educational needs. They display very high concentration and engagement in their activities, communicating very well with others. Children develop a deep respect and acceptance of themselves and others, increasing their learning opportunities and enjoyment.
