Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an in-depth awareness of the procedures to follow should she have concerns about children's welfare. She tracks children's progress meticulously to help her encourage and promote children's rapid development. The childminder is highly effective in her communication with parents. She shares a wealth of information and is very successful as she involves them in children's learning. p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder uses exceptionally creative activities, indoors and outside, to support and expand children's learning and understanding of the world around them. For example, during a meticulously planned shopping trip, children made their own lists, used real money, found the items and talked to the shop staff. Play activities are of an extremely high quality and the childminder extends children's ideas remarkably well with extra challenge for the more able children. The childminder makes excellent use of questions and guidance to encourage children to solve problems themselves, such as working out how the toy car works. The childminder's rigorous observation and planning helps her raise children's development beyond the level typical for their age.

p.3

The childminder has an excellent understanding about the importance of children developing a very strong understanding of healthy lifestyles. For example, she consistently provides a very wide variety of nutritious foods and plenty of opportunities for exercise and play in the fresh air. The childminder is highly effective as she supports children's emotional well-being. Children are extremely happy, confident and secure in the childminder's care. Their behaviour is outstanding. For instance, they show great consideration and deep levels of respect for what other children say and want.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children make excellent and sustained progress from their starting points. They develop exceptional skills that prepare them extremely well for their future learning and for school. Children are highly motivated and clearly relish learning. For example, children choose to practise their early writing skills, find the resources and tools they need, and show great concentration as they make marks.
