Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and interactions as children played inside. The inspector spoke with the childminder at convenient times during the inspection about her understanding of Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. The inspector sampled documentation, including the written views of parents, the childminder's self-evaluation, and her policies and procedures.

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an excellent understanding of how to protect children from harm and provides children with an exceedingly safe and secure environment. She has a very secure understanding of her responsibility to report any concerns about a child to appropriate authorities. Partnerships with parents are extremely effective, overall. The childminder works tirelessly to ensure she has a very solid understanding of children's individual needs. However, she does not gain as much information as possible from parents about where children are in their learning when they first start with her.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder knows the children exceptionally well and plans activities that are very well matched to their abilities, to promote their next steps in learning very efficiently. The childminder follows children's lead and interests closely, and her interactions very positively support their communication and language skills. For example, she commentated on children's actions and introduced them to new vocabulary as they explored various toy animals that went with the story they had chosen. Children listened very carefully to instructions as she asked them to pass her the right animal to go into a particular environment. Children learn extremely good skills for their future learning and become very independent. For example, they confidently chose the paints they wished to use and they copied the childminder's actions, squeezing the paint onto their tray by themselves. The childminder is excellent at encouraging children's creativity through a rich

Children learn robust hygienic and safe practices, to support their welfare exceedingly well. The childminder is extremely respectful. For example, she waits until children have finished playing before changing their nappies. She speaks gently to children throughout, explaining what she is doing to reassure them.
