Parents state that they value the welcoming, home-from-home environment provided by the highly qualified childminder and her assistants. Children thrive in their care, feel safe and form respectful and friendly relationships. The childminder and her assistants use assessments to identify children's starting points and any gaps in their learning. They work closely with parents and other professionals to help children make good progress in their learning and development. The energetic and enthusiastic childminder is extremely focused on helping children to be active and develop their physical skills. Children have fun and enjoy exploring and learning together both indoors and outdoors. Children are well prepared for the next stage in their learning and for school when the time comes. They are learning to be independent, make their own decisions and thoroughly enjoy being creative. The childminder is a reflective practitioner who is constantly seeking to improve and

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector evaluated a planned activity with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation and evidence of the suitability of adults living and working on the premises. The inspector spoke to the children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to on the day of the inspection and those provided by the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The knowledgeable childminder identifies and minimises all risks to children. Children are safe as they play. The childminder attends training events in child protection. She knows the action to take to protect children from harm. The childminder is dedicated to continually improving the teaching and the outcomes for children. She identifies the need to improve her knowledge and skills in promoting young children's language. Relationships between the childminder and her assistants are professional and supportive. The views of parents are sought as part of the childminder's self-evaluation. Parents feel well informed though regular newsletters, verbal communications and by using an online programme to share details of children's learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Older children are constantly encouraged to think for themselves and use language to convey their thoughts and ideas. They show great excitement as they are introduced to natural materials, such as, sand, shells, rice and wood. Older children are enthused as they use all of their senses to explore these materials. They notice patterns and colour. They confidently describe how these materials feel and suggest what they might be used for. Younger children show interest and curiosity in the world around them. They confidently move resources from one play area to another. They play alongside older children and become completely engrossed in emptying rice and sand from one pot to another. This develops their understanding of shape, space and measure.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children develop respect and an understanding of the needs of others. The childminder and her assistants are positive role models. They encourage children to share the wide range of resources and say sorry when they behave inappropriately. Children settle very well and are happy and comfortable in the childminder's care. Parents comment on how children grow in confidence as they socialise with others. Children develop their self-care skills as they help themselves to healthy foods and drinks. They keep themselves and others safe as they help tidy away resources when finished. Children learn how to keep themselves healthy through gentle reminders from adults. They discuss germs and the importance of not sharing utensils and drinking cups. Children enjoy being active as they try to catch bubbles indoors and explore the outdoors every day. They develop their physical skills as they ride bicycles, plant and care for vegetables and crawl through willow
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in their learning from their starting points. They are confident and motivated learners and develop the skills needed for school. Children develop their literacy skills. They enjoy reading books and sounding out the letters of their name. Children practise their early writing skills as they draw around shapes.
