This provision is outstanding

 Teaching is consistently outstanding. Children have immense fun in the nursery. The environment is extremely welcoming and has exciting resources, both inside and outdoors. Children have rich and highly rewarding experiences as they explore the inspirational outside play space. This supports their imaginative skills extensively and allows them to test their abilities.  Care practices within the setting provide outstanding support for all children's physical and emotional well-being, from their initial attendance to their move on to school. The nursery also makes an innovative contribution to the well-being of the local community.  Children make excellent progress from their starting points in all areas of learning, including disabled children, those with special educational needs and those who speak English as an additional language. Partnerships with other agencies and additional funding are used extremely well to help ensure any gaps in children's learning are

closing rapidly.  Parents frequently contribute to planning for their children's learning and receive detailed information about their progress. They are offered a wealth of training and information through monthly themed stay-and-play sessions and enjoy sharing 'Busy Bag' literacy resources with their children at home.  The members of the management team are inspirational. Their enthusiasm, passion and high expectations across all areas of practice show an exemplary drive for ongoing development and continual improvements. This results in all staff being extremely motivated and enthusiastic about the work they do with children and their families.

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities inside and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning.  The inspector completed a joint observation with the manager.  The inspector looked at a sample of children's assessment records and discussed the systems for planning their play experiences.  The inspector held a meeting with the manager and looked at a sample of policies, including risk assessments. She discussed the manager's procedure for self-evaluation and viewed the suitability, qualifications and recent training of staff working in the nursery.  The inspector spoke to a small selection of parents and children during the inspection and took account of their views.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. There are excellent systems in place to ensure that all staff and managers update their knowledge of safeguarding frequently. The processes for recruitment and induction of new staff are highly robust to help promote children's welfare and their excellent progress. Staff access an excellent range of professional development activities. They are supported by the leadership team on a regular basis to reflect on their practice. The manager recognises the need to continue to enrich staff's professional development, particularly when introducing new initiatives into the nursery. The manager and senior team use accurate methods to monitor the progress of all children in the nursery. They analyse the impact of learning on different groups of children, helping to ensure they all make excellent progress and that any gaps are closing.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Staff provide highly stimulating activities because they have a tremendous understanding of how children learn. Staff in the baby room promote children's sensory development with optimal challenges and encourage them to explore various materials and media. One example of this is when enthusiastic staff lead musical activities with finger puppets and motivate babies and toddlers to join in with number rhymes and action songs. Staff are adept at engaging pre-school children, for example, they encourage children to use magnifying glasses to investigate what insects they can find under logs. They promote children's language skills exceedingly well through meaningful discussions and listen attentively when they speak. Children eagerly look for different materials to build a superhero den out of. They excitedly show staff the bricks, wooden boards, crates and bamboo sticks they find and confidently suggest how they could use them. Planning is

highly effective; children's interests and next steps in their learning are included.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

Staff make highly effective use of all opportunities to promote children's development of independence and self-help skills. This helps even some of the youngest children to contribute to their self-care. Children learn the satisfaction to be gained from taking on small tasks and helping others, developing their sense of responsibility to their community. Resources are highly accessible for children so they can decide what to play with. Children have extremely good opportunities to learn why a healthy diet, effective hygiene routines and regular exercise contribute to maintaining their good health. Staff provide a wealth of opportunities for children to learn about those who live in different cultures or countries to themselves. They also take children on walks and invite parents into the nursery to tell the children about their jobs and cultural celebrations, such as Chinese New Year. These help to promote children's understanding and respect for the similarities and differences they

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

All children, including those who are in receipt of funded education, make excellent progress from their starting points. Children develop essential skills for the next stage in learning as they move through the nursery and for their future learning at school.
