This provision is good
The childminder is very aware of her responsibilities for meeting the learning and development requirements. She knows how children learn and develop through play. The childminder has a good knowledge of the children, their backgrounds, interests and what they most enjoy doing. Children feel valued and secure. Strong partnerships with local early years settings and other professionals help the childminder to promote children's care and learning needs. The childminder makes sure that children have enough space to play, for example, when very young children are crawling or learning to take their first steps. Children are motivated and eager to learn and join in with a wide variety of activities. They are developing key skills needs for the next stage in their lives. The childminder evaluates her practice successfully to review what she provides and highlight training courses. This helps her continually meet children's individual needs
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always explore ways to encourage parents to share information about what their children do at home, to help improve continuity of care and learning. Children do not always have opportunities to explore a wider range of different textures and materials, to help strengthen their understanding of the natural world.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder and children during play and discussed children's development. The inspector sampled policies and records. The inspector held a discussion with the childminder about her self-evaluation process.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder keeps children safe and puts their well-being and welfare first. She is knowledgeable about the Local Safeguarding Children Board procedures and knows the action to take should she have any concerns about a child in her care. The childminder works hard to engage with parents. She successfully implements her detailed policies and procedures to help promote children's safety and welfare. Parents know how well their child will be cared for at her setting. The childminder tracks children's progress well and has a very clear picture of each child's capabilities and skills. She uses information to plan effectively for children's next steps in learning and development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children show a great enthusiasm for learning new things. For example, even when indoors, they play with water in a tray. The younger children enjoy being able to experiment with different types of vessels, some with holes, to see how water flows. Children get excited when they play together; for instance, when running cars down slopes to see how fast they go. This helps them develop a good understanding of their world and strengthens their imagination. The childminder gives children's speaking and listening skills her full attention, such as providing opportunities for children to learn new words in the right context. The childminder also asks purposeful questions to help children think and effectively share their thoughts and ideas. Older children are prepared for school very well and they show how competent they are at holding a pencil correctly. They are proud to show how they write names and symbols in both English and their second

language. The childminder offers a range of exciting and stimulating experiences to children during their play.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children's personal, social and emotional development is promoted very well. For example, the childminder ensures they have regular opportunities to socialise with other children at planned outings to local toddler groups, parks and libraries. Children are confident and demonstrate good levels of self-esteem. They learn how to keep themselves safe and healthy; for example, children clearly know the procedures to evacuate the home safely. Children share, take turns and behave very well. The childminder encourages them to listen and to be involved in decision-making regarding favourite activities.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress. They develop good independence skills and positive attitudes to learning, helping to support them in readiness for their move to school.
