Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder updates her safeguarding training regularly and knows what action to take should she have concerns about the welfare of a child. The childminder rigorously evaluates her provision to identify and take action to make improvements for the benefit of children and families. For example, she is highly effective at thoroughly researching health and safety advice and sharing strategies with individual families. The childminder attends frequent training and professional development meetings. This has a very positive impact on her work as she has a significant depth of knowledge in childcare and development matters. The childminder has made an exemplary response to recommendations at the last inspection.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder works extremely closely with parents and consistently exchanges information with them about their children. She quickly establishes children's interests and abilities when they first start and she frequently notes observations of children's achievements. She regularly monitors children's progress against published guidance and talks with parents to share their views of children's progress at home. This builds a highly effective partnership. The childminder is a very skilled teacher and makes well-judged interventions in child-led play to encourage children to make decisions and think through their play. She skilfully extends their vocabulary. The childminder creates play ideas which are highly imaginative and challenging. Children greatly enjoy playing and learning.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder creates an interesting learning environment in terms of the play opportunities in her home and in the wide variety of outings she organises. Although children have access to an excellent range of high-quality resources, there is less immediate choice all year round for those children who learn better outside. The childminder's meticulous hygiene practices teach children to adopt excellent personal hygiene routines. Children quickly learn how to dress themselves and manage their personal needs, such as blowing their own nose. They enjoy frequent opportunities for active play and physical exercise. Overall, the childminder gives excellent support for children's physical care and well-being. The childminder is an exemplary role model for treating people with great empathy and understanding. Children gain mature skills in understanding how to manage their behaviour and their impact on others.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding
