p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder attends relevant safeguarding training and has an excellent understanding of her responsibilities if she has concerns about children's welfare. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is constantly reflective of her practice. She continuously seeks out new and innovative ways to improve and develop exciting and enjoyable learning experiences for children. The childminder plans to extend children's already excellent learning about the printed word across all areas of the environment. Other ideas include creating a 'bug hotel' to promote learning for children who prefer to be outside. The childminder places an incredibly high emphasis on her professional development and extending her extensive knowledge. The childminder actively seeks out the views of others and is always open to new ways of working.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Children are highly motivated to question, explore and learn, and clearly delight in being with the childminder. The childminder has an excellent understanding of how to assess children's individual starting points and accurately and precisely identifies their learning needs. She takes meticulous care in planning activities that include children's interests as well as their learning needs. Children are extremely keen on learning outdoors and on outings. For example, they regularly visit the farm, parks and take part in local community activities. This helps children to gain an excellent sense of their surroundings and understanding of the world around them.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder follows excellent health and hygiene practices. She is highly effective as she quickly anticipates children's physical and emotional needs. The childminder is particularly sensitive to any concerns children may have and deals with these swiftly. Children willingly support and help each other, for example, some go to get everyone's shoes and give them to the correct child. The childminder promotes children's negotiation skills extremely well. For example, children make excellent use of the sand timer to help them share and take turns. Children gain an exceptional awareness of which foods are healthy. For example, they choose beetroot, tomato, cucumber and yellow pepper to have with their hummus wraps. The childminder is highly effective as she encourages children's independence. For example, children are extremely confident as they spread their own hummus, roll their wraps and peel satsumas for lunch.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Outcomes for children are outstanding. The children are making rapid progress and are working well beyond their age-appropriate level. Children are extremely well prepared for the next stage in their learning.
