Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

The childminder is a very experienced childcarer, having previously worked in a pre- school. She uses her strong knowledge and skills effectively to meet children's needs and ensure she is up to date with requirements. Children benefit from what the childminder learns when she attends training, especially with their outdoor learning experiences. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is knowledgeable and conscientious about keeping children safe. Her safeguarding training ensures that she is confident to identify any child protection concerns and follow the correct procedures to ensure children's welfare. The childminder monitors children's progress effectively, identifying their next steps in learning and areas for her to develop in her own practice to make improvements.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder knows the children well. She seeks and shares good information with parents to help her effectively build on children's interests and abilities. She uses their next steps well to promote learning; for example, she provides resources that encourage toddlers in balancing and walking. The childminder provides books to extend children's knowledge and support their speech and communication skills. Children develop confidence and good physical skills. Older children develop increasing coordination, for example, when they attempt to throw balls and beanbags into buckets. Children benefit from frequent outdoor activities, where they work together to create dens and be physically active. The childminder's positive partnership with the local school enables them to work together well to reinforce and provide children with consistent learning experiences.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Children feel safe and secure in the childminder's home, confidently exploring toys and resources. The childminder's attentive care helps babies to feel secure, settle quickly and sleep soundly. The childminder praises and celebrates children's good behaviour and consideration for each other, to help them develop self-confidence and behave well. The childminder reinforces good hygiene practices and works closely with parents to support children's good health. The childminder's positive support and interaction helps children to become successful and active learners.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

Children's social, physical and literacy skills are developing well. They learn to play well with others, recognise their own names, and listen with interest and attention to stories. These skills prepare them well for future learning and moving on to school and pre-school.
