Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of the childminder's interactions and teaching, and the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector viewed the areas of the premises and garden used for childminding. The inspector looked at children's records, planning and a range of other documents, including training certificates. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at various times during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to during the inspection, as well as their written comments.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an extremely astute awareness of how to protect children. He completes regular training in safeguarding and has a very thorough knowledge of how to report any concerns. His robust risk assessments help to keep children safe in the home and on outings. The childminder has developed excellent communication with parents to promote children's learning to the highest level. He successfully identifies his strengths and the areas where he wishes to deepen his exemplary knowledge through more training. Children learn to use a variety of tools skilfully. For example, children eagerly take part in creative activities and demonstrate great pride in their achievements. The childminder expertly interacts with them. For example, he asks an excellent range of questions that help children to think deeply and explain their answers. This is very effective in mathematics. For example, when children created their 'spaghetti snakes' or other imaginary shapes with their modelling dough they used counting and early calculation. Children have excellent opportunities to develop their love of reading. They share exciting stories with the childminder.
p.3

Children have outstanding manners. The environment is exceptionally well organised indoors and outdoors. Children make independent choices and develop their own play ideas and their physical skills. They have many opportunities to be independent and take responsibility for small tasks throughout the day. The childminder arranges a wide range of wonderful activities in the local community to enrich children's understanding of the world around them.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
All children make excellent progress. They are exceptionally well prepared with the key skills needed for the next stage in their learning and their eventual move to school.
