This provision is good
The childminder is well qualified and effective in supporting children to make good progress in their learning and development. The childminder provides a welcoming environment where all children are supported well to feel safe, happy and emotionally secure. Children develop good levels of interest and motivation. They enjoy learning new things and taking part in a variety of stimulating activities indoors and outdoors. Children are becoming more independent and confident. They manage their own needs when they go to the toilet and change their clothes to go to nursery. Partnerships with parents are positive and contribute well to identifying and meeting children's needs. Parents are included in discussions about their children's care and learning. They are kept well informed of their children's progress. The childminder seeks to improve and strengthen the quality of her setting. Since the

last inspection, she has improved the range of learning experiences for children in her house and garden.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Children do not fully benefit from continuity in their learning if they attend more than one setting. The childminder does not always sharply focus on children's next steps in learning, to help them make more rapid progress.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector evaluated an activity with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self- evaluation, risk assessments and evidence of the suitability of adults on the premises. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection and took account of the views of parents provided by the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder places a good focus on her professional development. Since the last inspection, she has completed a level 3 childcare qualification. She has a secure understanding of how children learn and how she can help them. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder attends training to update her safeguarding knowledge. She knows all the steps she must take if she is concerned about a child's welfare. The childminder places a high priority on identifying and minimising hazards in the environment. Good hygiene routines are implemented and children's good health is protected. The childminder works well with parents. She seeks and responds well to their views. Written statements from parents show high levels of satisfaction with the quality of care and learning their children receive.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children enjoy exploring and trying out their own ideas. They develop their imaginations as they engage in pretend play and enjoy being creative. Children learn about different aspects of the natural world and are shown new ways of doing things as they play. They learn the meaning of new words and are encouraged to ask and answer questions. Children develop good physical and literacy skills. They have plenty of opportunities to practise using tools, such as paintbrushes and felt pens. They make controlled and purposeful marks which include recognisable letters. Children are effectively encouraged to sit, listen and take part in stories. They enjoy singing songs as they play. Children show an increasing understanding and interest in using numbers, recognising shape and measuring during fun games and activities.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children enjoy challenging themselves and experiencing achievement as they increasingly learn to do more things for themselves. Younger children learn to test their physical skills as they copy older children to jump off a step safely. Older children learn to use larger climbing and balancing equipment safely. They explore the outdoors and enjoy collecting, carrying and building using branches and sticks. Children develop their understanding of the importance of good hygiene and safety. They behave well, are friendly to each other and visitors, wait their turn and share. Children are encouraged to talk about and recognise different emotions. They are beginning to learn about people and communities beyond their immediate experiences.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress. They are well prepared for their next stage in learning and for school. Children listen well and show they understand by following instructions. They take part in conversations, learn to pronounce words correctly and learn to identify sounds in letters.
