This enables them to adapt and improve all children's learning, and they are still implementing some strategies. Through extremely robust self-evaluation, the leadership team and staff have made significant improvements. Staff have very high expectations of children and keep them extremely motivated to ensure success. They plan excellent experiences to promote learning. For example, children learn how to recognise the letters of their name and how to pour water carefully from one jug to another. The manager and staff monitor children's progress meticulously. Their highly effective planning includes children's interests and individual needs successfully. Staff liaise closely and very effectively with other professionals to ensure children receive the specialist support they need. Children have excellent opportunities to learn about the world around them. For example, staff use displays and resources skilfully, showing positive images of diversity, including families from other cultures, to help children develop an awareness of difference.

Staff are highly responsive to children's interests and expertly extend children's learning, for example, by talking about the Sun and the Moon travelling around the Earth. Staff very skilfully encourage children to make choices through the use of a 'wishing tree'. Children are extremely independent. For example, they decide on activities and snacks by using coloured stars as a voting system. Staff use innovative strategies to engage and motivate children. For example, children send letters to the 'fairy' in the garden or look for clues in the role play police station.

p.3
