The childminder observes children's play and highlights their achievements in learning. She monitors their progress closely and plans their next steps in learning. The childminder uses children's interests to make activities both challenging and fun. For example, she teaches children colours as they explore paint. The childminder and her assistant support the children's own ideas in play and extend their learning. For example, they encourage children to learn body parts as they play with dolls. The childminder and her assistant promote mathematical development well. For instance, children enjoy counting during play and learn about shapes. Children enjoy looking at books with the childminder and are excited to explore different buttons to press and pictures on the pages.
