p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder successfully uses her qualifications, training and experience to meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She is constantly striving to improve her provision and has very high aspirations for children's achievement. She astutely understands the importance of learning from, and sharing, best practice. She regularly meets up with a group of registered childminders and they often talk through ideas and cascade knowledge gained through their professional development. The childminder has an excellent understanding of legal requirements and implements them robustly. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder ensures that her safeguarding knowledge is regularly refreshed through training, research and discussion with other professionals. She is vigilant about monitoring children's welfare and knows exactly what action to take if she has concerns about a child.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

Children flourish in the childminder's care. They respond very well to her excellent teaching methods and demonstrate highly positive attitudes to learning. The childminder cleverly uses everyday experiences to inspire learning and successfully capture children's imagination. For instance, during a walk on a frosty day, she alerts children to the patterns in the ice made by the wheels of a pushchair. On returning to her home, she suggests children recreate the patterns by moving model cars, with their wheels dipped in white paint, across black paper. Children enthusiastically engage in the activity, recalling how cold it was outside and how the ice sparkled. They delight in the marks the wheels make and ask for glitter to add sparkle to their creations. The childminder provides a vast array of high-quality resources which are easily accessible to children. These effectively foster children's independence and creativity. The childminder assesses and monitors

children's progress very successfully, accurately identifying the next steps in their learning. She regularly asks parents to share what they know about their children and works closely with staff at the other settings some children attend. They share comprehensive information about children's experiences, welfare and progress. However, the childminder has identified that she would like to do even more to engage parents in supporting their children's learning.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder successfully inspires an atmosphere of great care, consideration and respect. She is very calm, polite and approachable. Children's behaviour is exemplary. They routinely demonstrate excellent manners and the older children are very caring towards the younger ones. Children receive lots of praise for their efforts, cooperation and achievements. They show exceptionally high levels of self-esteem and confidence. Children's good health is promoted very well. They enjoy extremely nutritious meals and snacks and have plenty of opportunities to be physically active indoors and outside.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children make rapid progress in their learning and development and are extremely well prepared for school and future life.
