This provision is good
The childminder successfully reduces gaps in children's development according to their age and individual starting points. Children make good progress and steadily reach typical levels of development, including those children learning English as an additional language. Children show good determination and independence during their play. They help themselves confidently to toys in the playroom. Children are well behaved, happy and settled, and form close emotional relationships with the childminder who provides them with lots of comfort and reassurance. Children often sing and smile during their play. The childminder fully supports children and their families. She works effectively in partnerships with parents and other early years provisions to meet children's individual needs and promote continuity of care and learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always use opportunities to further promote children's communication skills and language development. The childminder does not always consider ways she can further promote children's imagination and creative skills.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

What the setting needs to do to improve further
increase opportunities for children to think, respond and engage in conversation during their play to develop their language and communication skills further give children more opportunities to explore different materials and use their imagination to develop their creative skills.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed indoor activities in the childminder's home. The inspector talked with the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at a sample of documentation, including children's developmental records. The inspector took account of parents' comments within documentation.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder evaluates and improves children's care and learning effectively. For example, since the last inspection, she has created a playroom with resources that are more easily accessible to children. The childminder has improved the use of risk assessments on outings to keep children safe and has labelled toy boxes in children's home languages to support their language development. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of child protection procedures. She attends training that successfully extends her ability to monitor children's progress and provide them with good challenge. The childminder chooses to use questionnaires to seek parents' views about the provision. These identify that parents of children currently attending are happy with the childminder's care of their children. For example, they say, 'My childminder is very approachable and helpful'.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows children well, and observes and assesses their progress accurately. Overall, she plans a good range of activities and experiences that successfully move children on in their development. Children develop the key skills they need for their future and starting school. They concentrate and persist very well during activities; for example, while colouring and cutting out pictures of animals and using glue to attach them to pictures of a farmer. Children listen attentively to stories and begin to join in parts they remember. They often choose to repeat words they hear and talk to themselves while playing imaginatively. The childminder provides regular opportunities for children to play outdoors. Children enjoy running freely, using scooters and playing ball games.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides children with a positive role model and encourages them to be polite. Children say, 'Yes please,' when she offers to help them; for example, to change the clothes on a doll. The childminder reminds children to wait for their turn when others want to use the same resources. Children independently notice and tell the childminder when they see other children share the toys. Children are motivated in their play. Toddlers show great pleasure when they successfully use toys that create sound. Children form close friendships and develop good social skills. For example, they enjoy outings to toddler groups and the local library to take part in singing activities. The childminder supports and promotes children's physical well-being successfully. She provides children with healthy food and carefully observes them when they eat, to keep them safe.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in relation to their developmental starting points. They develop the key skills they need for the future and starting school.
