The childminder's caring and welcoming attitude helps children and their families to form strong relationships. Children are confident; they have strong emotional attachments with the childminder and clearly enjoy each other's company. The inspector had discussions with the childminder relating to her practice. The inspector looked at areas of the premises used for childminding and sampled relevant documentation. The inspector observed the childminder's practice and the learning opportunities provided. The inspector and childminder jointly observed children at play.

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands her role and responsibilities to ensure children's safety and to report concerns about their well-being. The childminder is committed to improving the quality of her provision and regularly identifies her training needs to improve outcomes for children. For example, she has updated her knowledge of new legislative guidance, and has attended training to refresh and successfully develop her teaching skills.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children develop their creativity, for example, as they explore sounds with musical instruments and as they sing. They confidently recreate rhythms for favorite songs. Children thoroughly enjoy painting; for example, following a trip to the lavender fields, they created their own interpretation of the landscape. The childminder provides a range of opportunities for children to develop their early literacy skills and become familiar with print. She motivates them to link letters to sound and praises them to encourage them to enjoy what they do. Children have excellent opportunities to learn about themselves and the wider world. For example, the childminder works closely with parents to incorporate children's cultures and festivals within the planning. She skilfully uses a wide range of resources that reflect diversity, to help provide children with an insight into a number of people and communities and learn to value differences.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a safe and secure home where children enjoy learning and feel emotionally settled. She organises the resources well and children receive ample support to become independent and to make choices about their play. The childminder is skilled at helping children to learn about healthy lifestyle practices. For example, they enjoy a balanced diet and engage in daily physical exercise. Children learn about healthy foods and that occasional treats are for special times. They have walks around the local community and visit local parks, learning about risks and road safety. This helps support their health and physical well-being. The childminder encourages children's self-confidence well and provides them with regular praise. Children behave well for their age. They closely follow the instructions given to them by the childminder, and understand the routines. For example, at lunchtime they remember to ask to leave when they have
