This provision is good
The childminder has effective relationships with parents. She communicates with them on a daily basis and provides information about their child's development. Children are extremely confident and happy and demonstrate exceptional levels of self- esteem. They develop very strong bonds with the childminder and her assistant, which helps to promote their emotional well-being. The childminder organises the indoor environment well and provides safe and suitable resources to support children's learning. Children choose, explore and investigate independently and develop key skills needed for the next steps in their learning. The childminder carries out comprehensive risk assessments and visual checks before the children arrive each day to maintain a safe environment for them to play in. The childminder has effective partnerships with other settings that children attend to promote continuity in their learning. All children make good progress.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The organisation of some activities does not always fully engage and motivate all children in their learning. The childminder does not always organise the outdoor environment effectively to meet the needs of those children who prefer to learn outdoors.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke with the childminder, her assistant and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as records of children's learning and development and suitability checks. The inspector spoke to parents and took account of their views. She also looked at written feedback provided by parents for the inspector. The inspector carried out a joint observation with the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistant have recently undertaken child protection training. They are confident about the procedures and are able to take prompt action in the event of any concerns. The childminder evaluates the quality of her provision to identify and target areas for improvement and includes the views of her assistant, parents and children. She makes good use of local professional networks and training to keep her and her assistant well informed about current good practice. The childminder supports her assistant's professional development effectively. She meets with her to discuss her training needs and provides guidance to develop her practice further.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder and her assistant use a variety of teaching methods well to extend children's learning. For example, they join in with their play and ask questions to help children think about their ideas and respond. They promote children's communication and language well. For example, they talk to them about what they are doing and provide visual prompts for younger children and babies. This builds on their understanding and gives them time to hear and practise new words. The childminder and her assistant observe children as they play. They use this information to monitor children's progress and plan activities to promote their learning further. Children are keen to participate in activities such as cooking. They explore the ingredients and take turns to pour, stir and break eggs into the mixture. Children discuss the weather and learn about the effects of wind, rain and snow on their environment. This helps to support their understanding of
p.3

Children are extremely happy and content. Very effective settling-in procedures help children to form exceptionally strong attachments with the childminder and her assistant. Children's well-being is effectively promoted. For example, they go on regular visits in the local area and extend their knowledge of the community they live in. Children are extremely well behaved and show very caring attitudes towards each other. The childminder works closely with parents to promote positive behaviour and provide consistency in their approach.
p.3
