The childminder uses her experience and good understanding of how children learn and develop to plan activities that interest and motivate children. She is an excellent role model for children. Children are emotionally secure and have strong relationships with the childminder. They are happy, enjoy their experiences and make good progress in their learning and development. The partnerships with parents are good. The methods used for keeping up-to-date records support an effective shared approach towards children's care, learning and welfare between the setting and home and help meet children's needs effectively. The childminder consistently implements a range of policies and well-thought-out procedures that keep children safe and well looked after. The childminder's home is warm, very clean and welcoming.
p.1

Inspection activities
The inspector and childminder undertook a joint observation. The inspector took into account the written views of parents. The inspector looked at policies, children's personal learning journals and a range of other documents, including vetting checks. The inspector viewed the areas of the house used for childminding purposes. The inspector observed interactions between the childminder and children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands her role in meeting her legal responsibilities. This includes protecting children from harm and conducting thorough risk assessments. She undertakes regular training to maintain her good practice. She has addressed the recommendation set at the previous inspection. The changes made have improved her partnership with parents. The childminder monitors children's progress closely. She identifies any gaps in their learning, and addresses the next steps in their learning through carefully planned activities.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses effective systems to regularly observe and assess children's progress. She uses the information from her observations effectively to plan what the children need to learn next. The childminder obtains a clear overview of information from parents when children first start from which to check their progress. The good teaching methods used by the childminder effectively promote children's learning, especially in their communication and language, physical, personal, social and emotional development. The childminder talks to younger children using clear and simple words consistently to develop their speech.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children settle well into this caring environment. They develop their independence and self-confidence in many different practical and social situations. The childminder arranges visits in the local community. Children enjoy exploring and investigating the environment. The childminder promotes children's good health and teaches them about hygiene effectively. Babies receive sensitive and focused attention, which helps them to be safe and secure. The childminder recognises the physical needs of the children. For example, when very young children become tired she responds attentively. The childminder clearly enjoys her work and she ensures positive outcomes for children.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points. They develop their independence and are prepared well for the next stage in their development, whether they are moving on to nursery or school.
