Inspection activities
The inspector viewed the areas used for childminding. She observed the quality of teaching during activities inside and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector looked at evidence of the suitability and qualifications of the childminder, as well as a selection of policies and procedures, including safeguarding. She discussed the childminder's self-evaluation process. The inspector carried out a joint observation with the childminder. She discussed children's learning and development, sampled their records and looked at the planning documentation. The inspector took account of the views of parents from information provided by the childminder.

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has an exceptional understanding of the procedure to follow should she have any concerns about a child in her care. She is alert to hazards and takes measures to ensure children's safety, which are underpinned by detailed policies, procedures and risk assessments. Equally high consideration is given to the safety of children on outings. The childminder demonstrates a dedication to ensuring that all children achieve their full potential. The childminder conscientiously identifies her strengths and priorities for development. They learn how to move their bodies confidently over stepping stones, counting them as they go. They move their bikes into numbered parking areas that the childminder has created for them. This supports their early understanding of shape, space and measure. The childminder continuously challenges
