This provision is good
The quality of teaching is good. The childminder uses her skills effectively to ensure that children are provided with a range of challenging and fun experiences. Consequently, all children are making good progress. Children's language development is very well supported. The childminder takes every opportunity to develop children's understanding of the spoken word. She talks to the children constantly. This introduces them to a wealth of new vocabulary. Partnerships with parents are good. Parents provide key information regarding children's development before they start. The childminder uses this information to develop baseline assessments and plan activities to support children's future learning. Children are confident in the childminder's care. A warm, caring and nurturing environment encourages children to develop secure attachments. Strong relationships with the childminder ensure that children's emotional well-being is promoted.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed interactions between the children and the childminder during play. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at documentation, including the self-evaluation document, risk assessments, a range of policies and procedures, and evidence of suitability for the childminder and household members. The childminder had a tour of the premises, including all areas used for childminding.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
A good range of policies and procedures, which are regularly reviewed, support the childminder's good practice. Safeguarding arrangements are effective. The childminder is clear about the procedures she must follow should she have concerns over the safety of children in her care. She ensures that children's safety and well-being are at the heart of everything she does. Risk assessments support her practice to provide a safe and secure environment for the children, both inside and outside the home. The childminder works closely with parents to provide additional support where needed. Effective partnerships with other providers promote children's learning and development needs well. The childminder makes sure that all mandatory training, such as first aid, is kept up to date.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good understanding of how children learn. Children explore their environment confidently. They engage with a wide range of resources that supports their individual needs and interests. Children enjoy learning experiences that promote and develop their understanding of differences and the wider community. The childminder interacts positively with the children. She plays alongside them to support and enhance their play. The childminder uses observations and assessments effectively to support children's next steps for learning. She successfully links these to planning. This ensures that children are provided with a variety of challenging learning experiences that enhance and build upon their prior learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Relationships between the childminder and the children are strong. The childminder reassures children when they are unsure. She talks to them about changes to their normal routine. For example, when visitors are present, the childminder explains why they are there and what they are doing. As a result, children settle quickly and begin to engage with confidence. The childminder is a good role model. She values children's individual needs and strengths, and ensures they are provided with opportunities to show these. Children are extremely well behaved and they demonstrate an understanding of expectations. Children are provided with nutritious snacks and meals, and the childminder talks to them about healthy choices. This helps them to learn about and develop healthy lifestyles.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children are making good progress in their learning given their individual starting points. Children are eager to participate in the range of learning opportunities and resources that are available for them. This means that they are well prepared for the next stage of their learning. The childminder monitors children's learning and development. As a result, she is able to ensure that children's progress is sustained over time and any gaps are identified quickly.
