This provision is good
The childminder works closely with the parents and fosters good relationships with them from the beginning of care. This helps children settle quickly and build strong bonds. The quality of teaching is good and children make good progress. The childminder follows children's interests, which helps to ensure that children enjoy activities and become engrossed in their learning. Children receive nutritious meals and snacks and also learn effectively about healthy lifestyles. For instance, they have interesting discussions with the childminder and grow their own strawberries. Children develop good independence skills, such as dressing themselves, in readiness for their next stage of learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always fully encourage parents to share their views and opinions of their children's learning in order to further support continuity. The childminder occasionally misses opportunities to seek the views of children and their parents to strengthen her self-evaluation even further.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector checked evidence of safeguarding knowledge and procedures. The inspector spent time observing interactions between the childminder and the children. The inspector viewed a sample of the childminder's documents, including policies and children's records. The inspector looked at the premises used for childminding. The inspector discussed how the childminder evaluates her practice.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder undertakes regular safeguarding training and keeps her knowledge of legislation up to date. She is fully aware of the procedures to follow in order to keep children safe and protect them from harm. She identifies potential hazards to minimise the risk to children. The childminder identifies aspects of her provision that she plans to improve through reflecting on her practice; for instance, enhancing the environment by rearranging the resources to help children to become even more independent. The childminder has used recommendations from her previous inspection to improve her practice and support children's outcomes. For instance, she now assesses her observations of children's learning to provide an accurate overview of the children's achievements.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder regularly monitors children's development and accurately identifies their learning needs to help them progress on to the next stage in their learning effectively. She organises exciting and interesting activities based on children's interests, which helps keep children engaged and focused. The childminder keeps parents well informed about their child's progress, including the required progress checks for children aged two years. She provides parents with a written summary of children's achievements and any areas where children may require further support. Children have a strong sense of belonging. For example, they spend time looking at the photographs on display and enjoy finding pictures of themselves at play. Children are provided with support to promote their physical development when appropriate, such as helping a child to use tongs more effectively. The childminder extends children's language development well, for instance, by repeating
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder knows the children very well. She is a good role model and teaches children to take turns. The childminder uses praise effectively, for example, when children say 'thank you' when handed a toy. Children's emotional well-being is strong and they feel safe and secure in the childminder's care. They are kind and caring to each other and behave very well. Children learn about keeping themselves safe and managing their own risks.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points. Children enjoy learning and their individual needs are effectively met. The childminder prepares children well for their move to school.
