p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is secure in her understanding of child protection matters and is proactive in updating her knowledge. For example, in respect of new legislation, she has completed further training and research. The childminder has positive relationships with parents. She regularly shares children's achievements, progress and next steps, and encourages parents to offer their observations from home. The childminder has established effective partnerships with others sharing the care of the children. She complements the learning children receive elsewhere to support consistency in children's development. The childminder is very keen to improve the quality of her practice. She regularly attends training to improve her skills, for example, in speech and language and in supporting children with complex needs. The childminder states this has been beneficial to her professional development and outcomes for children.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder is enthusiastic. She proactively extends children's learning through her purposeful interactions. Excellent planning gives children extremely broad experiences at home and on outings, extending their learning in all areas successfully. Children experiment in their play and take turns cooperatively. For example, while building a railway track, they concentrate as they work out whether they need a curved or straight piece of track, imaginatively recalling journeys they have made. The childminder uses a comprehensive system to find out about children's achievements and interests when they start. She meticulously monitors her focused observations and assessments to maintain consistent and effective progress.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

The childminder promotes equality and diversity well. She is a good role model. Children are confident and are growing in independence relative to their ages. They play alongside each other respectfully and contently. Children are learning about good hygiene practice. For example, they understand the need to wash hands prior to their cooking activity. Babies explore curiously and are encouraged to join in with the other children. For example, they dance alongside each other during a game of musical statues. Children benefit from regular outdoor learning opportunities, for example, outings to the woods and local parks. They enjoy visits to local groups. Children's behaviour is good. They understand the childminder's expectations. Babies feel secure and have plenty of cuddles.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

All children make at least good progress in relation to their starting points. Children are happy and motivated to learn. They are well prepared for the next stages of their learning.
