This provision is good
Children are strong communicators. Young children follow instructions and older children engage in meaningful discussions. The childminder extends their vocabulary and helps them develop good listening skills. Children are confident and happy in the childminder's home. They have secure emotional attachments and the childminder meets their physical needs well. The childminder organises her environment effectively. Children make independent choices and are motivated to learn. They make good progress in all areas of their learning and development. The childminder has good partnerships with parents and other early years settings. They exchange effective information and have a consistent approach to children's care and development. The childminder is passionate about early years learning. She has good systems of self- evaluation and seeks parents' feedback to help her identify her professional development and continue to drive improvement.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Children do not have regular opportunities to learn how to keep themselves safe in the event of a fire. The childminder misses some opportunities to teach children what causes some things to happen and the effect this has.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and the quality of teaching indoors. The inspector spoke with the childminder at convenient times and carried out a joint observation. The inspector checked safeguarding information and the premises. The inspector took account of the childminder's self-evaluation, parents' survey and written feedback from parents left for the inspection. The inspector sampled documentation, including policies and procedures, and children's development records.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The qualified childminder has a good understanding of her responsibilities. She attends regular training to keep her knowledge of safeguarding children up to date. This means she knows what action to take if a child is at risk of harm. The childminder carries out good risk assessments and reviews her procedures regularly, especially in light of any changes. The childminder monitors children's development and ensures any gaps in their development close quickly. The childminder is effective at providing additional support and challenging more able children. The childminder makes good use of professional support and training to improve areas of her practice. For example, she is currently focusing on strengthening partnerships to support children's learning at home further.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder seeks effective information on children's starting points from parents. This enables her to know how to plan for children's development as soon as they start with her. The childminder has a good understanding of each child's abilities and next stages of learning through her regular observations. She joins in with their games and activities to extend their learning. Children make strong progress in their mathematical development. The childminder challenges older children, asking how many sides different shapes have and supports them to recognise numerals. Young children learn about sizes as they play with dolls' clothes. Children are active learners and select from the good and well- organised resources. Children choose and share storybooks with the childminder; young children enjoy lifting flaps and pressing buttons as they follow the story.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder helps children feel proud of their achievements. Older children confidently manage their personal care and become independent in managing appropriate tasks. The childminder provides good support for all the children, ensuring she meets their individual needs. She provides an inclusive environment; for example, older children thread small beads onto fine cotton, while younger ones thread pasta onto cord. Children develop a robust awareness of healthy practices and learn to understand about safe behaviour. Children behave well, take care of the environment and understand the childminder's expectations. Parents comment positively on how the childminder manages the children's settling-in process. They state that their children have strong bonds with the childminder and look forward to going to her home.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. They are confident, independent and eager to learn. Children learn a good range of skills that prepare them well for school.
