Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder keeps concise documentation on children and robustly risk assesses her indoor and outdoor play areas to ensure children are safe. The childminder has very high expectations of children. For example, the childminder supports children to keep trying and persevere in challenging circumstances. She listens attentively to what children have to say, establishing extremely positive relationships and valuing the uniqueness of each child. The childminder has a proactive attitude and an infectious enthusiasm for learning which is shared with the children. This helps children to relish exploring and learning independently. The childminder gains the views of parents and children to monitor the effectiveness of the provision. She analyses how best to improve and bridge any gaps in learning to ensure high quality care and learning.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder plans activities which are directly linked to children's interests and stages of development. Children develop excellent communication and language skills. However, opportunities for children to use their home language during play are very slightly less evident. The childminder skilfully sustains children's thinking. For example, she tests children's ideas on how to make sand feel different to touch. Children develop mathematical concepts during their play, for example, estimation and early calculation. The childminder makes use of excellent observations and assessments to monitor children's progress and plan challenging activities to help them make rapid progress.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder fully recognises what each child can achieve independently. She actively supports children to make responsible decisions and take necessary steps to deal with their emotions. For example, the childminder has displayed house rules and reminds children of thess to help them make right choices. Children's level of tolerance and patience is exceptional, for example, while they wait a short while for an activity they enjoy making music together to pass the time. The childminder forms outstanding emotional attachments with the children. They are happy to leave their parents and choose an activity that fully engages them. The childminder provides countless opportunities for children to understand healthy lifestyles. For example, she uses the apple tree in her garden as a great subject for discussion about a very wide variety of subjects including healthy eating. Children also enjoy a very wide variety of outdoor learning
