This provision is good
The quality of teaching is good. The well-qualified childminder uses her knowledge of the children to effectively identify the next steps in their learning. Assessments of children's development are accurate and precise. The childminder has a warm, friendly, caring nature and children develop a strong emotional bond with her. They feel safe and secure, and develop good levels of self- confidence and self-assurance in the nurturing, homely environment she provides. The childminder reflects on her practice and is clear about how to develop her provision further. She demonstrates a strong commitment to furthering her professional development, in order to continue to support children's learning. The childminder develops very close and trusting relationships with parents and other settings. She uses an innovative variety of methods to effectively share information about children's progress and ideas for supporting their learning at home.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Sometimes, the childminder misses opportunities to extend children's counting skills as they play. The childminder does not always explain to children the benefits of healthy eating.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder with the children. The inspector spoke with the childminder at appropriate times during the observation. The inspector sampled documentation, including policies, risk assessments and children's records. The inspector reviewed the childminder's self-evaluation. The inspector took account of the views of parents through their written comments left for the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder understands the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. She provides a good variety of interesting experiences that support children's development in all areas. The childminder regularly monitors children's achievements, which enables her to identify any gaps in their learning that require additional support. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder assesses the risks within her home and on outings to help protect children and support their own understanding of how to keep safe. The childminder shares good practice with other childminders and actively seeks the views of parents and children to maintain a high standard of care and learning. The childminder invests in her professional development by attending training, such as completing her level 3 qualification. This ensures her teaching and care are good.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder interacts sensitively with children as they play. She supports them to develop a love of books and reading as they select stories to enjoy together. Children cuddle into the childminder as she reads, following the story and discussing the pictures. The childminder supports children to start to identify letters in the text, sounding them out. The childminder effectively supports children's speech development. She listens carefully to what young children say to her and repeats their words correctly for them to hear. The childminder interacts well with children and values their opinions. As she plays alongside them, she gives lots of praise and encouragement. This helps to build children's confidence and self-esteem and supports children to become sociable and confident learners.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder attends to children's emotional and care needs very well. She builds up their confidence by giving plenty of reassuring cuddles and gently encouraging them to explore. The childminder has a calm, positive manner and is a good role model. Children are well behaved and independently share and take turns. The childminder supports children to be independent in their personal care and to develop good hygiene routines. The childminder provides opportunities for children to continue their learning during trips and visits in the local area and to playgroups. Children learn about the natural world and the wider, diverse community. This helps children to be curious and interested in the world around them.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder keeps parents up to date with their children's progress and provides opportunities for them to share information about what children are learning at home. All children are acquiring the dispositions and skills needed for their future learning and for school.
