The childminder is very confident in her ability to follow the local child protection procedures if she has any concerns about a child. Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder knows children extremely well, which helps her to promote their well- being and individual learning needs successfully. Children benefit from a broad and balanced range of purposeful activities that promote their next steps for learning. For example, when making gingerbread figures, the childminder focuses younger children's learning on sharing, taking turns and developing independence skills. Older children extend their understanding of food and nutrition, and develop early reading and number skills as they follow visual prompts on the recipe cards and weigh and measure ingredients. The childminder engages children in ongoing discussion to support their developing language skills. She successfully promotes children's positive respect of difference and diversity. Assessment records show that the childminder monitors children's progress very effectively and actively involves parents in this process.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children develop extremely positive relationships with others. They are very helpful, kind and well mannered. Children learn to take care of themselves and the environment, for example, by following good health and hygiene procedures and helping to tidy away toys after use. They benefit from excellent opportunities to promote their physical development. For example, they explore, investigate and play in the fresh air outdoors each day and use an excellent range of small tools and equipment indoors.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
